spreadsheet application program
widely used in accounting,
financial, statistical, and

Hit the Enter Key and

allow Google to
search for different
sites to learn How to
use MS Excel 2010
When you see the site

of your choice, hit the
Enter Key to select

To start an Excel Spreadsheet Program:
Click the Start Button, select Programs, go to Microsoft

Office and
select Microsoft Excel 2010
This is a typical Excel Window

To create a new spreadsheet, type the title on the first row

A1, eg. ABC Doughnuts Limited and hit the Enter Key

On the next line (B2), type January

On the lower right corner, press the left

side of your mouse and drag the corner
horizontally to display the next months as
shown below.

On A3, type the names of doughnuts, eg.

Jam. Use Tab Key to move to B3, C3, and
D3 for the figures

Continue typing the names of the

doughnuts, eg. Custard and Chocolate
with the corresponding prices.

On A6, type Total

Highlight B6, press the lower right corner

of the box using the left side of the mouse
and drag it to the right until D6

When you reach D6, look for summation

sign and press to get the Total


On E2, type Total in order to get the

number of sale for every doughnut.

From the highlighted E3, drag the box by

pressing the left side of the mouse until it
reaches E6 as show below

Again look for

and click to get the total
Microsoft Excel will automatically

compute the total as shown below

To Center the Title of the Spreadsheet,

click on the title, drag the left side of the
mouse until you reach the desired location

Once the title has been highlighted, click

this arrow as shown below.

When you click the tiny arrow (dropdown

arrow) you will get this dialogue box

On the Dialogue box click the merge cells

box, this will remove the divisions between
the columns in the title and click OK

Click the Center option as shown in the

arrow, to Center the Title

To increase the size of the fonts on the

title, click the dropdown box as shown on
the arrow and select your choice of fonts

As shown below, select the number of your

choice, eg. 16. Click and automatically, the
Title fonts will increase in size

To make the Title look more sharper or

bolder, click as shown on the arrow

Now the title has been blocked

While highlighting the months, press the control

key on your keyboard as you highlight the names
of the doughnuts, and the grand total, click to
make them bolder in appearance

To put a grid or box around the data,

highlight A1 up to E6, click the box as
shown below

Click on your choice of border as shown

below

Here is the picture of the data with

To add color to the background of the Title,

click the Title, look for the Fill Color
dropdown arrow as shown below:

Select your choice of color.

To add color to the background of the months and names

of doughnuts, highlight the months, press control key as
you highlight the names of the doughnuts as shown
below, look for the Fill Color key and select your choice
of color.

Click your choice of color and see the

change in the background.

To add color to the grand total, highlight it

as shown below, look for the Fill Color key,
click and choose your choice of color.

As you click the Fill Color key, select your choice

of color, automatically, the background of the
grand total is changed, as seen below.

To put currency on the figures (to distinguish

them from number of items), highlight from B3E6 as shown below, then click as shown:
You will get this data

To change the currency highlight B3-E6 and

click the dropdown arrow
beside the
dollar sign, as shown below, and select
your choice of currency.
You will get this change in the

currency
To add color to the background of the

subtotals, highlight B6-D7, press Control
Key while highlighting E3-E5, click arrow
beside Fill Color key and select your choice
of color.

To make a chart from the data, highlight only the

entries (A3-D5) except the subtotal and grand
total. Then click Insert as shown below

Click Column dropdown and select your

choice of column as shown below

Move the chart to the lower left side of the

data

Note: Any changes on the entries of data

will be reflected on the subtotal and grand
total and also the Chart.

To start a new spreadsheet, click Sheet 2 as

seen below

Type the Title of the New Spreadsheet

You can also edit your entries
on the formula bar and click
Note: If you typed a wrong spelling, you can correct it by

using the backspace key
of your keyboard, and
when you have corrected it, you can hit the Enter Key

On A2, type the word Title and hit the Tab

Key to move the cursor to B2

On B2 type Rental Price, click Tab, on C2

type Rentals, click Tab, on D2 type
Income

Continue typing the different titles on the

succeeding rows, hitting the Enter Key as you type
each of them in order to go the next row
Take note, some of the words are

cut, eg. Rental Pri

To fix the columns so that the Titles will fit in

column A, move the pointer or the cursor to the
line between A and B and click twice to adjust
the column as shown below
Column A has been

adjusted

To fix Column B, go to the line between B

and C and click twice to adjust column B

To Save your work, go to file as shown

below, click Save As

Click My Computer as shown below, notice

that My Computer is also displayed as
shown on the next arrow

Click on Drive C as shown below, then create a

new folder by clicking the Folder Key

Type the name of your file on the New

Folder, eg. Jomar Hilario VA, click OK

A new folder (Jomar Hilario VA) has been created,

type the name of your file (eg. Freds Video
Classics), then click Save

Notice that the name of your file also

appears on the top of your spreadsheet

Once you have created a filename for your

spreadsheet, you can simply click the Save
key as shown below, or click, Ctrl S

When typing numbers, you can use the numeric

keypad on the desktop computer, or you can use
the numbers on the upper portion of the keyboard.

Start putting prices on the B3, followed by the Tab Key to

go to C3. Then click the Enter Key to move the cursor to
the next line. Continue typing your entries until you have
supplied the rest of the information on the table.

These 4 symbols can be seen on the

numerical keypad, or you could find them
on the keyboard

To get the product on D1, type the = sign,

click A1, type the multiplication sign (*),
click C1. Click or press the Enter Key.

To get the quotient on D3, type = sign, click A3

divided by (slash sign), click C3, then press
Enter key or

To get the difference on D5, type = sign,

click A5, type minus sign (-), click C5, then
press the Enter Key or

To get the sum on D7, press the = sign, click

A7, type + sign, click C7, then press the Enter
Key or
Any changes on the entries of

numbers will be reflected on
the totals.

Here are few examples how the four

mathematical operations work

To do the Addition, highlight the Total, type the = sign,

click B4+B5+B6 and click the Enter Key or

To do the Subtraction, highlight E7, type the = sign, click

on E4-E5, hit the Enter Key or
for the total

To do the Multiplication, highlight the

total cost, type = sign, click H4*H5, and
press the Enter Key or to get the total

To do the Division, highlight the Total,

type =, click on K4/K5, and click the Enter
Key or
to get the total

Applying the Mathematical operation (multiplication),

first, highlight D3, type = sign, click B3*C3, press Enter
Key to get the total. Do this to the rest of the Titles.

Below is the product of the Multiplication. The

total for each was done manually on the
computer, eg. =B3*C3.

To create one calculation for the Income column,

highlight D3, type = sign, click on B3*C3, press Enter
Key. (As shown on Slide 74). Drag the lower right
corner of D3 until you reach D9. Release the mouse
and you will get the total Income in just a click

Here is the result of the one calculation on

Multiplication done previously. (Slide 76)
Note: Any changes on the

entries on the Rental Price or
Rentals columns will be
reflected on the Income
column.

Another way to solve the Income column is to

double click the lower right corner of D3 and it
will show the result.
Note: Always remember to save your work. Just press

Ctrl S to override and update previous data.

Here is the result of the Income column by

double clicking and dragging the cursor
from D3 to D9.

Another way to do the computations is through the Auto

Functions. Here, we are going to do the Autosum
function

To do the Autosum, highlight B11 (Total),

press and a formula will appear

The formula on the Total will add only

from B3 to B9 as shown below

Dragging the corner from the B11 to

D11 will give the total by addition

Here is the result of the Autosum

Function

To do the average, highlight B12

There are three ways to get the AVERAGE. (1) Type =

sign, followed by av and select average from the list as
shown below

Highlight the range of Average, eg. B3 to B9

press Enter key, and the result will come out.

Another way to get the AVERAGE is highlight C12,

(2) press
select AVERAGE on the dialogue box
and click OK

Select the Range, eg. C3 to C9 which is

reflected on the dialogue box, click OK

Lastly, highlight D12

Go to Formulas

Select More Functions and Statistical

dropdown

Select Average

Select the Range, eg. D3 to D9, click OK to

get the AVERAGE

Final Result of Computation

To do the Maximum, highlight B13

Type the = sign, followed by M (for

Maximum) and double click to confirm

Select the Range, eg. B3-B9, press the

Enter Key and the result comes out
Range

Once you press the Enter Key, the

result comes out on display

The other way to find out for the value of Max is,
click the Function Key
select Max as shown
below and press ok

Select the Range, click OK, and comes the

result

To get the Maximum for the Income column,

highlight B13 to C13, and drag it until D13 to get the
result.

Here is the final result for the

Maximum

Follow the same procedure to get the Minimum value,

e.g. type =, ffd. by M, select Min from the choices,
double click mouse

Select the Range, eg. B3-B9, press

enter to get the result

Again, highlight C14, press

Select Min from the dialogue box and

press OK

Highlight the Range, eg. C3 to C9 and

click OK

To get the Min value for D14, highlight B14 and C14,
drag highlight until D14, and you will get the result
