There was a comment way back in the thread about how stupid and deceptive we
on the Right seem to be--and how ohsowonderfuldontchaknow The One is, if only
we would drink the Kool-Aid, and believe the lie that we about to be taxed into
bankruptcy. I wish I could say I don't get the way lefties think, but I know...I used to

Some of us grew up after Woodstock. Some of us are now running the country--
into a dystopian nighmare.

The Democrats have this "enemies list" --- denominated in epithets aimed at the
people whose wallets they wish to hijack. And all you have to do to occupy
multiple epithets on their "enemies list" is to insist that they take their hands off
yourself, off your wallet, off your property, off your kids, off your liberty, and off your
freedom of speech. Insist on all these good things --- and that qualifies you to be
spat upon by Democrats --- by a gang of thieving, sticky-fingered, bloodsxcking,
predatory humanitarian thugs. Destroy them.

When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.
Proverbs 10:19 Lots of good wisdom in that Proverb. When someone has to take
that long and use that many words to answer a question that could be answered
with not much more than a yes or no, there's a good possibility that all that
wandering around the barn is meant to confuse and cover up. What Mr. Obama
does best is campaign, and this is just another example of him out on the road.
We can expect a lot more campaigning from him while he tries to tell us what's in
this health care bill without really telling us what's in this health care bill.

3.12% Real Estate Tax (varies by county)
21.50% Imbedded (accumulated) Tax on purchases.

58.73% Total Tax in the lowest bracket

I explained it in 42 words and in about 20 seconds.

Barack Obama is a complete embarrassment and his election shows just how
stupid, gullible, ignorant, uneducated, and incompetent my fellow Americans are!

And NO ONE's household owes one single penny for our government's
spending, no matter what the government says!

I personally haven't authorized the governemt to spend my tax dollars the way they
have, and I do NOT accept responsibility for any of it's debt!

I earn my own income and pay my own bills, INCLUDING my own health and
medical insurance, and I REFUSE to pay for anyone else's just because a bunch
of socialist idiots think I should!

NO ONE is responsible for your healthcare, food, shelter, etc, but YOU! And you
sure as heck do not have the right to expect someone else to pay your bills, just
because they might have more than you do!

Keep your grubby hands off of MY income because I've never asked for yours and
I never will!

Most Americans do not know the principles by which our Founding Fathers built
this country, and they aren't worthy nor deserving of benefiting from the freedoms
and liberties our Constitution provides!

They're enthusiastically rooting on their own enslavement and financial ruin,

because they're too stupid, gullible, and incompetent to realize that's exactly
what's going to happen!

Obama's long-winded, rambling answer to a really simple question is sometimes

sometimes known as "bird-walking". If you have ever observed a bird as it walks
on the ground looking for food, it rarely goes in a straight line. It is always going
back and forth, sometimes running, sometimes walking, and frequently looking
up to make sure it does not become food for a cat or some other preditor. A bird
does this because it really does not know where to find the food. Obama did not
know how to answer the question so he had to cover a lot of ground helter-skelter
to find a morsel of an answer. The man-child is way out of his league. He had
better stick to campaign mode where he can just talk about what he wants to talk
about rather than trying to answer a question about which he is clueless

we win in November and then we will vote h-no on every appropriation bill related
to this boondoggle. Then in 2012 we will make sure you have no veto power by
sending you back to community organize what is left of ACORN. And finally we will
repeal your mess. This is what happens when you ignore what the people don't
want and carefully cut out any possibility of bi-partisanship. You can force it
through but you are not a dictator and will be unable to fund it or get any support
from the OTHER half of the country - that DOES exist.

I wish President Obama would be more accurate in his accounting and stop
throwing around the "50 million" number for political purposes.

Even using his number, as of the time before the signing of his legislation, 85%
of Americans had health insurance coverage.

According to this breakdown (http://keithhennessey.com/2009/04/09/how-many-

uninsured-people-need-additional-help-from-taxpayers/),

of the "50 million" who did not:

* 6.4 million are actually already on a government program.

*4.3 million are eligible to be on existing government programs and have not
signed up.

*9.3 million are not U.S. citizens.

*10.1 million earn over 300% of the poverty level.

* 5 million are adults between 18-34 years of age without children.

*10.6 million are the remaining uninsured that fit into none of the above
categories.

Ditch the new taxes! And OhBummer believes in statism -- not liberalism. Famous
Famous brands of statism are Nazism, socialism, fascism, communism,
interventionism, progressivism, and welfare statism --- these last three are each
a mix of fascism and socialism.

Liberalism, on the other hand, is a political philosophy of small, cheap

government -- it is a constabulary -- and the job of a liberal government is to
enforce human rights within its own jurisdiction.

I speak of the inalienable and perfectly-natural and universally-valid human rights

of life, liberty, private property, and the pursuit of personal happiness. The first
article of private property is the self; all other rights are derivatives of and flow from
these cardinal rights.

The Rights of Man are the gift of nature or of nature's god, and they belong to all
human beings, everywhere. Does any Democrat subscribe to all of the above,
without qualifications or weasel words?

The words “liberal” and “liberalism” were hijacked by Democrats long ago. It was

the mistake everyone else to let them get away with it.

Shocking how ignorant some of you are. I'm neither Republican or Democrat, nor
am I a Tea Party member. But when I see you people defend one party over the
other, especially those defending this ridiculous excuse for a president, I'm
saddened. Each American household owes hundreds of thousands of dollars in
entitlement spending b/c of the incompetent and misguided policies of FDR and
LBJ, GW's adventure crusade through the middle east, and now those undeniably
asinine and ruinous policies of your new savior, and you think the government is
going to do a good job with health care? Unbelievable.

I'm from TX. We think people should work, and only those who work should be
given your "right" of health care. Clearly, this country has a division between this

Very disappointing that readers here are taking Ms. Kornblut to task for reporting
that the prez gave a long, rambling response to a simple question. Notice I didn't
say he ANSWERED the question, because he didn't. He RESPONDED to the
question in a completely meaningless way. Nothing complex or nuanced. Just
ignorant blather, which is all he's good for without a teleprompter. Maybe he
should have written a few notes to himself on the palm of his hand. Good for Ms.
Kornblut for noticing that the emperer has no clothes.

There's another side to this. Obama has debased the Presidency by acting as a

Recently a Democrat ask a Navy Admiral if the Island of Guam was going to "tip
over" from the extra weight of additional sailors. Seems to me that Democrats
fashioned a bill that no one can explain even the authors.

The lady asked a very simple question and President Obama's answer was
disrespectful and arrogant.

People are losing their houses in this country because they cannot pay their
mortgage because taxers on every level will not stop. He should of said "your
taxes are high and I think you benefit from this plan"". If he truly believed its was a
good plan then . I he can not say that it should not have become law just for a
narrow political gain.

SERIOUSLY - Those of you attempting to take Obama's side ignore the simple
truth.

WE ARE OVERTAXED ALREADY...everyone knows that.

Things are tough economically right now....everyone again agrees.

A citizen asking their President if it's wise to add more taxes onto our strained
backs seems a reasonable question worthy of addressing.

However getting an answer that would give a reading of the dead sea scrolls a
run for their money is not an ANSWER - it's a distraction.

And as intended everyone is bored into submission silently wishing for "the

No. 183

Submitted March 9, 1925

Decided April 13, 1925
268 U.S. 5

CERTIORARI TO THE CIRCUIT COURT OF APPEALS

FOR THE NINTH CIRCUIT

Syllabus

1. Any provision of an act of Congress ostensibly enacted under power granted by

the Constitution, not naturally and reasonably adapted to the effective exercise of
such power but solely to the achievement of something plainly within the power
reserved to the states, is invalid and cannot be enforced. P. 268 U. S. 17.

2. Direct control of medical practice in the states is obviously beyond the power of
Congress. P. 268 U. S. 18.

3. Incidental regulation of such practice by Congress through a taxing act, like the
Narcotic Law, cannot extend to matters plainly inappropriate and unnecessary to
reasonable enforcement of a revenue measure. P. 268 U. S. 18.

TO: Webmaster, Washingtonpost.com

Publisher, The Washington Post Co. (please forward)

The shoe advertising blog spam, below, appears to be part of a paid extortion
campaign against The Washington Post. Co. intended to pollute blog discourse
and drive the publication to strictly moderate all internet blogs, facilitating what I
believe is a covert campaign of U.S. government internet censorship -- apparently
conducted by operatives working out of Homeland Security- administered
regional "fusion centers" throughout the U.S.

My reporting indicates that government censors use blog moderation as a "cover"

to impose prior restraint, and outright censorship, on internet political speech of
s o-called "targeted individuals" -- many apparently singled out for their political
beliefs or their activism:

http://nowpublic.com/world/how-u-s-spy-ops-censor-web-political-speech
http://nowpublic.com/world/u-s-censors-net-while-obama-lectures-china-net-
censorship

My many articles on this subject have not altered this pattern of apparent
government censorship, which, I believe, is comparable to the regimen imposed
by Communist China on its citizens.

As a regulator contributor to WaPo blogs and as a victim of this censorship

regime, I urge The Washington Post Co. to issue a formal complaint to Dennis
Blair, the Director of National Intelligence, demanding that the U.S. government
police its agencies and commands to safeguard the constitutional rights of its
citizens.

Thank you for allowing me to offer this suggestion in this space.

it's true and correct.

The nerve of the President, answering a question with facts, intelligence and
details. Isn't he supposed to talk DOWN to people and treat them like they're
STUPID?

Apparently the Washington Post thinks he should.

Which explains a lot about their newspaper.

How looking-glass IS it? The President's talking to people as though they were
intelligent adults is viewed as "elitist"!

And the Beltway Media ISN'T elitist - even though THEY talk down to people and
condescend to their own readers.

Yo, Washington Post! You know what elitism is?

Your opinion that people can't handle complex explanations is the REAL elitism.
You are assuming that people are STUPID.

The President is assuming Americans are SMART.

reporter to cover the president. I had to read the transcript for myself (which is fine
because I have comprehension abilities and background knowledge) to gain any
understanding of what Mr. Obama actually said. He also answered several other
questions cogently and at length.

Assign a style columnist for a vapid article full of banalities and cutesy comments.
Assign a reporter to give us the facts.
Perhaps then the public will understand not only the complex problems and
solutions this man is dealing with but also that we have someone of substance

Obama demonstrated far more patience than me. I would have asked Doris to
first define “under-taxed” and “fairly taxed“. Which is why I am unlikely to ever hold
elected office.

But Doris’ question shows the stress now on people who depend (or had
depended, prior to lay off) upon a weekly paycheck and who have seen
diminished ability to keep the wolf at bay. They look for a tangible, immediate
solution to their money problems (and me too) and the thought of lowering taxes
seems to work, even it means subsequent loss of public services, being a mere
abstraction for those who want their ledger to now be on the plus side and not the
minus side at the end of the month.

And that is why political leadership is needed to help get us thru these bad times,
which I believe Obama is trying to provide (despite hyper-explication) rather than
exploitation of fear. EOM.

Prez made.

It being Econ, though, i could rarely get it to stand up and compute the way
Calculus could.

By the way, I could even follow a Calc professor whose thick Indian accent made
it necessary to pay close attention to every mark he made on the chalk board. His

The people are not "progressive," which connotes statist leftism. But they want

make sure not to miss them. That is what this health care legislation does, it
promotes the general welfare. Oops, now the framers of the Constitution are

With that said, I must nevertheless question the purpose to be served by this so-

Let's see, when a President or politician, regadless of their political persuasion,
gives canned 30 second non-answers to questions, they are criticized for their
brevity and lack of depth. Of course, most politicians are groomed to say not a
word more than absolutely necessary [a lesson Joe Biden should take to heart].

Yet when Obama actually takes the time to attempt to answer a question in depth,
he is then criticized for his verbosity?

Sorry, I just don't get it.

This article by Anne E. Kornblut is bunk. I was curious after reading it and went to
listen to the entire speech and Q&A session.

Yes, it was a long answer. So were the President's answers to other questions in
the same session. It was a comprehensive answer. It was neither meandering
nor repetitive, a few "firsts" and "seconds" aside. The only thing "wrong" with it
was his apologies for answering at length; most likely in response to staff
flagging him to cut to a conclusion.

Frankly, it's not only refreshing but a great relief to have a President in charge who
actually understands the full scope of his Administration's policies sufficient to
explain them, extemporaneously, in detail; instead of a "Decider" who only
decided choosing from a menu prepared by others and who, for the first half of
his administration, regularly botched the delivery of his canned one-liners.

Only the media and his own campaign managers have an interest in pushing
back, in getting President Obama to speak in nice quotable phrases and sound
bytes. The nation's voters, agree or disagree with his policies, are only
advantaged by hearing this or any President speak at length.

Think about this. The federal government is forcing ("mandating") that all citizens
buy a product (health insurance) from private companies (health insurance
companies). FORCING you to spend your money on health insurance or FINING
you if you say no. That has never happened before in this country and it is
unconstitutional. If it stands, then the federal government could force us all to buy
a Ford automobile or any product. Think about that.

The trouble with telling lies is that you have to keep telling more to cover up the
first lie. Obuma is the lier in chief. One writer suggested respecting the office of
President. I wonder how much respect the writer showed for George Bush. The
response is sure to be "he did not deserve my respect." Well too bad, neither
does Obuma. Our President is a wonderful speaker with a teleprompter in front of

Obuma is that the american public is on to him and his health care. They do not

Yeah, it does state that clearly. So clearly, in fact, that they put the words "promote
the general Welfare" in big letters in the preamble of the Constitution so you'd
make sure not to miss them. That is what this health care legislation does, it
promotes the general welfare. Oops, now the framers of the Constitution are
Socialists, too.

I know it's hard to think past a party's mantra, but taxes are a necessity for society
to operate people. I guess we think we can do all we do for free. That's hardly the
case. As we grow into a more coplicated society, more issuesm services,
planning, development etc... is required. This 2010, not 1950.

America has many problems, really over taxation isn't one of them. Of course, we
would like to pay less, but the truth is if you want things operating well, taxes pay
for them.
A society is representative of what it wants and is willing to pay for. America is so
busy building parties and running for things, it's forgetting to build anything and
establish the country in the modern day. Building costs lower once a systems is
running well and operating with efficiency. We learn this stuff in college.

Hey, Anne E. Kornblut: STOP CONFLATING OP-ED AND THE NEWS. Your whole

And these comments just make me sad about the future of the human race.
When someone gives thoughtful answers to questions, they get mocked? Really,

I used to think there were valid concerns about health care from a conservative

Yes. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2010/04/02/1352473/full-text-of-president-

My takeaway from it is the answer is, "yes and it doesn't apply to you[her]."

Yes it's smart to raise taxes for this purpose because it's deemed important to
keep people healthy. Yes it's better to spend money now so over the long term
there is less money being spent in the health care system.

It probably doesn't apply to her because the tax increase is removing the
exemption on unearned income (capital gains and the like) on households with
an AGI of over $200K (or something like that - tax terminology isn't something I'm
versed in).

I wonder if the example of Warren Buffet was intentional or that was the

Here's the real problem: Obama knows a huge tax increase must be levied in the
future --- his future --- to bring the deficit down. He can't count on a robust
economy to increase Federal revenues. His own policies, combined with the
lethargic recovery (much of America's growth these past five years has been
fueled by the easy credit/refi market) means Federal tax revenues are NEVER ---
at least in the next five years or so --- going to approach the levels of the past. So
new taxes must be levied. And you CANNOT get everything the
government "needs" from the rich. The mother lode is in the middle class, right
where this questioner resides.

So Obama is very testy about the level of taxes NOW, knowing he's hatching a big
increase either in Jan 2011 or immediately after he is reelected. Ideally, he would
like a Value Added Tax (VAT). Sure, there would be lots of gimmicks
and "refundable tax credits" for about 40% of the population to ameliorate the
effects of this highly regressive form of taxation. To get it passed would be
another HCR fight. Failing the VAT, the Democrats are likely to go after other ways
to get your money. There are several ideas lurking in the shadows: do away with
the home mortgage deduction; seize all the 401(K) funds and issue annuities;
the universal financial transaction tax, etc. If he can figure out a way to get an
agency to collect money through regulation, bypassing the Congress, that is what
he will try and do.
Yes, Mr. Obama is VERY SENSITIVE about the subject of taxes, for good reason.

BTW, this article marks some kind of a breakthrough for Ms. Kornblut, who until
this point had been more in the "Mr. Obama, can I offer you a pillow?" category of
reporting.

Obama has always been known for his overly-long answers to questions. I think
he does it in large part to limit the time available for more questions. Brett Baier
knew this about Obama, and tried to limit his answers in that Fox interview a few
weeks ago. Everyone bashed Brett Baier, but I applaud Baier for recognizing the
ploy and trying to disrupt it.

Obama always tends to talk longer on questions he's not particularly fond of.
Why? So you'll forget the question that was asked, thereby not noticing that he
didn't really answer it.

It's true that public opinion is divided but I wish WaPo would start clarifying that the
the new law has opponents on the right AND the left. Some say it goes to far, and
other say it doesn't go far enough. The fact that it's not single payer probably
accounts for half of those that oppose the bill. As Obama said, it's a centrist plan.

"FIRST, DO NO HARM."

What good is health care reform in a nation where a secret Homeland-directed

federal-local "program" uses a nationwide high-tech weapon system -- hiding in
plain sight -- to silently impair, torture and subjugate extrajudicially "targeted"
citizens?

Amen to that, Solsticebelle. He picked a place where we do not like his

Obamascare. The people were quiet because that is how we are down here.
Bless his heart.

Another, really - really ad day for the DEMOCRUDS.

Still, more Americans said they were working part-time even though they
preferred full-time work. When they and discouraged workers who have given up
searching for jobs are included, the "underemployment" rate ticked up to 16.9
percent from 16.8 percent.

The only way everyone would be covered for health care in this country is is we
had single payer health insurance like the rest of the civilized world.

The fact that it took Obama 17 minutes to NOT answer her question says it all. It's
hard to give a straight answer when you're screwing over the middle and working
classes in favor of your rich insurance company friends.
