Jesus Christ, Eyewitness to Heaven (Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign, Day 32)

John 3:31-36
31 He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and
speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all.
32 And what he hath seen and heard, that he testifieth; and no man receiveth his
testimony.
33 He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true.
34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the
Spirit by measure unto him.
35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the
Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
----Today, I am continuing the daily Just Jesus Evangelistic Campaign sermon
series, which is aimed at sharing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with
unbelievers and reminding Christians, in this important election year, to keep the
main thing the main thing -- and that is reaching unbelievers with the Gospel of
the Lord Jesus Christ and praying for their salvation, for the problem in America
is not only disobedient presidents and politicians but disobedient pastors,
preachers, and parishioners who have refused to obey God's Great Commission
and who have refused to obey God's repeated commands to "pray without
ceasing" for unbelievers, believers, and political leaders. Yes, you should pray for
the right candidate to win; yes, you should vote for the candidate that the Lord
gives you peace about voting for. But, don't get caught up in it like the world
does. Nothing much is going to change until people get saved and get their
hearts right with the Lord.
This campaign is inspired by the following three verses: 1 Corinthians 2:2 which
says, "For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and
him crucified." Acts 5:42 which says, "And daily in the temple, and in every
house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ." And 2 Timothy 2:4

which says, "No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life;
that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier."
This series is not for Christians necessarily. However, I do hope you are one of
those saints who still loves to hear the "Old, old story of Jesus and His love" -- As
the hymn says, "For those who know it best Seem hungering and thirsting to
hear it like the rest." This series is primarily for unbelievers, so they can hear and
understand the Gospel and be saved from sin and the punishment of sin which is
hell. This is message number 32.
William Barclay said, "If we want information about a family, we will get it at first
hand only from a member of that family. If we want information about a town we
will get it at first hand only from someone who comes from that town. So, then, if
we want information about God, we will get it only from the Son of God; and if we
want information about heaven and heaven's life, we will get it only from him who
comes from heaven."
As we move toward the conclusion of John chapter 3, we come to what has been
called "The Testimony of John." There is some debate over which John actually
produced these words. Some say the verses that we just read are a continuation
of the previous verses in which John the Baptist was speaking to his disciples.
Others say that these words come directly from John the Evangelist, the writer of
this gospel. Whatever the case, these verses tell us some important things about
Jesus Christ.
This passage comments again on the origin of Jesus Christ. "He that cometh
from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the
earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all." Jesus is the one who comes
from above. He is heavenly. His perspective is different from ours. Being God, He
sees and knows things that we cannot see and do not know. Because of His
origin, Jesus has authority that no one else on earth has. Just as we are willing to
listen to a Neil Armstrong who has been to the moon on how to get there and
what it is like, we ought to listen to Jesus regarding how to get to Heaven
because He comes from Heaven.
Jesus not only speaks about Heavenly things because He is the Lord of Heaven,
but also because He has experience with Heaven. Verse 32 says, "What he hath
seen and heard, that he testifieth." Jesus is not like some religious teachers in
history who spoke of things they had not seen, heard, or experienced.
Mohammed might claim that he had a vision of Heaven. Confucius would say that
Heaven is a state of moral order on earth. Buddhists believe that Heaven is the

feeling of pleasure. However, Mohammed, Confucius, and Buddha, are -- as John

said -- "of the earth, earthly, and speak of the earth." In a court of law, eyewitness
testimony is more valuable than the testimony of someone who has no
experience with the matter at hand. Thus, Jesus alone can tell us what Heaven is
like and how to get there from experience, because He came from Heaven.
John continues, however, that "no man receiveth [Jesus'] testimony." By "no
man", he is not saying that absolutely no one believed in Jesus. However,
comparatively speaking, very few people believed Jesus during His ministry on
earth. This is sad.
John goes on to say, "He that hath received [Jesus'] testimony hath set to his
seal that God is true." When we believe the words of Jesus, we bear witness to
the fact that God is true. The Greek phrase "set to his seal" means to stamp
something with a mark or sign for security, preservation, or authentication. In
Jesus' day, a man who was writing a letter and wanted to assure the recipient that
it was coming from him, would take his ring (which would be inscribed with his
name, likeness, or some other unique symbol), dip it in hot wax or ink and then
stamp it on the letter.
Some have said that Jesus Christ is God's love letter to us. Jesus, who issued
forth from the Father, tells us everything God wants us to know about Himself
and about how we can have a relationship with Him. When we believe the Gospel
-- Jesus' testimony -- we are acknowledging that what God has spoken and
demonstrated through Christ is true.
No one else can speak about Heaven as Jesus did. No one else can speak about
salvation as Jesus did. No one else can speak about dying and rising from the
dead to live eternally with God as Jesus did. He alone can speak about these
things with confidence and assurance. The question now is, do you believe what
He said? Are you ready to place your faith, trust, and eternal destiny in His
hands? If so, allow me to show you how.
1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God's law. The
Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:20: "For there is not a just man upon earth that doeth
good, and sinneth not." Romans 3:23 reads: "For all have sinned and come short
of the glory of God." In fact, I am the chief of sinners, so don't think that you're
alone.
2. Accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23:
"For the wages of sin is death"

3. Accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew
10:28: "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but
rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." The Bible
says in Revelation 21:8: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable,
and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars,
shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is
the second death."
4. Accept the fact that you cannot do anything to save yourself! The Bible states
in Ephesians 2: 8, 9: "For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of
yourselves: it is a gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast."
5. Accept the fact that God loves you more than you love yourself, and that He
wants to save you from hell. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16, "For God so loved
the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him
should not perish, but have everlasting life."
6. With these facts in mind, please repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus
Christ and pray and ask Him to come into your heart and save you this very
moment. The Bible states in the book of Romans 10:9, 13: "That if thou shalt
confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God
hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." "For whosoever shall call
upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
Dear friend, if you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation,
please pray with me this simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a
sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake,
please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ
died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart
and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.
