The Testimony of John (Just

Jesus Evangelistic Campaign

#11)
John 1:29-36:
29 The next day John seeth
Jesus coming unto him, and
saith, Behold the Lamb of God,
which taketh away the sin of the
world.
30 This is he of whom I said,
After me cometh a man which is
preferred before me: for he was
before me.
31 And I knew him not: but that
he should be made manifest to

Israel, therefore am I come

baptizing with water.
32 And John bare record,
saying, I saw the Spirit
descending from heaven like a
dove, and it abode upon him.
33 And I knew him not: but he
that sent me to baptize with
water, the same said unto me,
Upon whom thou shalt see the
Spirit descending, and
remaining on him, the same is
he which baptizeth with the Holy
Ghost.

34 And I saw, and bare record

that this is the Son of God.
35 Again the next day after John
stood, and two of his disciples;
36 And looking upon Jesus as
he walked, he saith, Behold the
Lamb of God!
----Today, I am continuing the daily
Just Jesus Evangelistic
Campaign sermon series, which
is aimed at sharing the Gospel
of the Lord Jesus Christ with
unbelievers and reminding
Christians, in this important

election year, to keep the main

thing the main thing -- and that
is reaching unbelievers with the
Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ
and praying for their salvation,
for the problem in America is
not only disobedient presidents
and politicians but disobedient
pastors, preachers, and
parishioners who have refused
to obey Gods Great
Commission and who have
refused to obey Gods repeated
commands to pray without
ceasing for unbelievers,
believers, and political leaders.

This campaign was inspired by

1 Corinthians 2:2: "For I
determined not to know any
thing among you, save Jesus
Christ, and him crucified." As
well as Acts 5:42: "And daily in
the temple, and in every house,
they ceased not to teach and
preach Jesus Christ." This is
message number 11.
Richard Trench said, "In naming
Him 'The Son of God,' John the
Baptist speaks with unclouded
vision: he means nothing less
than the full Christian doctrine
that the Man Jesus is also the

eternal Son of the eternal Father,

co-equal, co-eternal."
Nobody was prepared for the
way in which the Son of God
entered the world. Those who
expected Him to arrive as a
conquering king were wrong.
Those who expected a religious
leader who would enforce the
Mosaic law were also wrong.
Many looked for the Lion of the
Tribe of Judah, but Jesus came
as the Lamb of God. Jesus'
arrival was so unlike what
anyone expected that God had
to reveal Jesus' true nature to a

select few. John the Baptist was

one of those few. Please notice
three things this passage tells
us:
1. John the Baptist received his
knowledge of Jesus from God.
John clearly says, "I knew him
not." In fact, he says it twice. So,
if John did now know Jesus,
how was He able to declare that
Jesus Christ was the "Lamb of
God who taketh away the sin of
the world"? How was he able to
baptize people in anticipation of
His arrival? John answers in
verse 33: "He that sent me to

baptize with water, the same

said unto me, Upon whom thou
shalt see the Spirit descending,
and remaining on him, the same
is he which baptizeth with the
Holy Ghost." God, who had sent
John to baptize people ahead of
Jesus' arrival, gave John a
specific sign that would let him
know who Jesus was. That sign
was the Holy Spirit visibly
descending on Jesus. Luke 3:22
says, "And the Holy Ghost
descended in a bodily shape like
a dove upon [Jesus], and a
voice came from heaven, which

said, Thou art my beloved Son;

in thee I am well pleased."
2. John the Baptist verified his
belief regarding Jesus with
observation. In verse 32 we
read, "And John bare record,
saying, I saw the Spirit
descending from heaven like a
dove, and it abode upon him...
And I saw, and bare record that
this is the Son of God." Some in
the world criticize Christianity
by saying that it is a religion
based on blind belief. But, that
is not the case. Christianity is a
faith based on strong witness

testimony. Repeatedly, in the

Gospels, and in the epistles, we
are told of how the apostles and
others saw Jesus, spoke with
him, learned from him, and
observed him. Here, John lets
us know that he saw the Holy
Spirit descend from Heaven and
land on Jesus with His own
eyes. John did not blindly follow
Jesus; and he does not expect
us to blindly follow Him. Rather,
John puts his name on the line,
giving us eyewitness testimony
that Jesus is the Christ and the
Savior of the world.

3. John the Baptist turned

people to Jesus Christ. When
John received his confirmation
that he had indeed seen the
Lamb of God, he immediately
turned people's attention to Him.
John told the crowds gathered
to hear him preach, "Behold the
Lamb of God, which taketh away
the sin of the world." Then, later
on as he was walking with two
of his own disciples, he saw
Jesus again, and immediately
pointed them to Him. "And
looking upon Jesus as he
walked, he saith, Behold the

Lamb of God!" John knew that

his work was coming to an end
now that Jesus was on the
scene. He told everyone who
came to hear him about the
Lamb of God that had come to
take away the sins of the world.
Today, the words and testimony
of John the Baptist still point us
to the Savior. We, like those who
came to hear John, have a
decision to make. Will we ignore
and reject Christ or will we
accept Him and His sacrifice on
the cross?

If you want to accept Jesus

Christ and his sacrifice on the
cross, allow me to share with
you how you can do that today.
First, please understand that
you are a sinner, just as I am,
and that you have broken God's
laws. The Bible says in Romans
3:23: "For all have sinned and
come short of the glory of God."
Please understand that because
of your sins, you deserve
eternal punishment in hell.
Romans 6:23 says "the wages of
sin is deathThis is both
physical death and spiritual

death in hell. That is the bad

news.
But here is the good news. John
3:16 says "For God so loved the
world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting
life."
If you believe that Jesus Christ
died on the cross for your sins,
was buried, and rose from the
dead, and you want to trust Him
for your salvation today, please
pray with me this simple prayer:

Holy Father God, I realize that I

am a sinner and that I have done
some bad things in my life. I am
sorry for my sins, and today I
choose to turn from my sins.
For Jesus Christ sake, please
forgive me of my sins. I believe
with all of my heart that Jesus
Christ died for me, was buried,
and rose again. I trust Jesus
Christ as my Savior and I
choose to follow Him as Lord
from this day forward. Lord
Jesus, please come into my
heart and save my soul and
change my life today. Amen.

If you just trusted Jesus Christ

as your Saviour, and you prayed
that prayer and meant it from
your heart, I declare to you that
based upon the Word of God,
you are now saved from Hell
and you are on your way to
Heaven. Welcome to the family
of God! Congratulations on
doing the most important thing
in life and that is receiving
Jesus Christ as your Lord and
Saviour. For more information to
