Translation for Sponsor and Sponsored Children letters

Plan is an international humanitarian, child centred development organisation, implementing
development programs that promote the realisation and fulfilment of childrens rights and the
alleviation of child poverty. Working in 50 developing countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas,
Plan aims to reach as many children as possible, particularly those who are excluded or marginalized
with high quality programs that deliver long lasting benefits by increasing its income, working in
partnership with others and operating effectively.
Plan is working in Myanmar to develop and run cost effective and high impact programmes. Using
Child Centred Community Development Approach with a focus on rights-based work, the program will
focus on DRR, ECCD, WASH, Child Protection, MN&CH, Emergency Response and Child Development.
1. Objective:
Due to the needs of Programme activity at our Country Office, Plan Myanmar has is finding
the services for Freelancer for translation of letters.
2. Details Job responsibilities:
Provide quality translations of sponsored children letters (Myanmar language to
English) and make sure that the fully meaning of what the letter is expressing and
captured
The letters are in simple English and doesnt require too much of technical English
Make sure that all letters are reviewed to ensure Child Protection Policy compliance
The translator should be interpret in Sponsor visit to project area (Nyaung U) as needed
and perform as interpreter
3. Timeframe and duration:
Six Month initial consultancy on freelance translation service from starting date
This is a freelance job and the translations are based on number of communication between
sponsor and sponsored children.
In general, there could be around 150 letters to be translated in one time and this could be
from one to five times in a month. Sometime the letters will be in mass quality up to 200
letters for one time
4. Requirement & Background
Any university degree holder (Especially in English Major) with good English to Myanmar
and Myanmar to English skills
English Teaching Background
Good computer skills especially in Microsoft word
Able to type in English and Myanmar
Excellent communication skills
Time management: Able to cope and delivered in limited time frame
Confidentiality
5. Term of conditions:
The contractor have to agree to sign and follow Plan Internationals Child Protection
Policy.
Inform to Plan Internationals focal point of any Child Protection concern or problem
encounter while translating letters.
The contractor have to pick up the original letters at Plan Myanmars country Office. It
will be requested to pick up letters at least once a week.

The contractor should have a maximum of 3 days to deliver softcopy of translated letters
(Original letters must be deliver at Plan Myanmars CO within the timeframe as well).
Any delay of service delivery should be notified to Plan Myanmar. Otherwise 10% of
deduction to the service rate will apply in the final payment per one day overdue.
The English should be in simple with strong and good skill.
The translation of the letters will be within time limit.
Payment will be done in a monthly basis and it will include the sum of the letters translated
during the period.

6. Application process

7. General Obligation
Income tax of 2% will be withhold for a residence consultant as per income taxation law in
the country.
