План урока
Приветствие. Организационный момент.
Целеполагание. Речевая зарядка. The topic of our today’s lesson is on the board.
Read it (WE ARE WHAT WE EAT slide1). By the end of the lesson we’ll have explained this
statement. And now answer my questions.
What things are necessary for people to live? (water, food, sleep)
Why do you think these things are so important? (We can’t get energy without them.)
Do you think that all food is healthy?
Then what food is unhealthy? Why?
Проверка домашнего задания. Повторение. At our previous lesson we made a choice
between organic and genetically modified food. Remind us the conclusion we came to (выводы
по ранее прочитанному тексту).
Основная часть урока.
1. Do you agree with Mark Twain? Here is his quotation slide2. (The only way to be
healthy is a) to eat what you don’t want to, b)to drink what you don’t like and c)do what you
don’t want to.) Illustrate its parts (a) b) c)).
2. Работа с презентацией.
Give another word for a healthy diet. (balanced) And now I want you to see what amount
of food a person can eat during one’s life (slide 3). It’s unbelievable, isn’t it? Only imagine all
that gigantic quantity of food! And then imagine how much of it is unhealthy! For example, tell
me what food is your favourite.
Can you see any of it in that picture? (slide 4)
In the next slide you will see the favourite food of British teenagers. Give your
predictions of what it may be. So, according to the survey, they prefer … (slide 5). There is
much in common, isn’t it?
Why is this food unhealthy? (slide 6)
3
Now please read a short extract (Раздаточный материал. Приложение 1). What
diseases does unhealthy food cause? (slide 7)
Can you imagine what happens to the people who eat unhealthy food in future? (slide 8)
What a terrifying perspective!

Here you can see a special test that will help you to eat the correct food (slide 9). Answer
the questions and then we’ll check up the results. (правильные ответы при проверке отмечаем
на интерактивной доске и проговариваем полностью).
Complete the notes for healthy eating and memorize them (Раздаточный материал.
Приложение 2).
Рефлексия. (slide 10) What food is healthy? What are the main principles of healthy
eating?
Are you going to change your diet in any way? What food will you add to your diet?
What food will you reject?
Remember the quotation by Mark Twain. Can you give any comments? Remember the
topic of our lesson. How do you understand it?
Домашнее задание. Your homework for the next lesson is unusual
(slide 11). You should define what food and drinks were ordered by each family. (Раздаточный
материал. Приложение 3.)
Выставление оценок.
Заключительный этап урока

Приложение 1.

TEXT

What is tasty is not always healthy.

4
Doctors say that chips and pizza are fattening, coca cola spoils our teeth, coffee shortens
our lives. If you go on eating too much, you’ll become obese, and obesity leads to heart disease,
diabetes and stroke.
Some scientists believe that food influences not only our bodies but our spirits as well.
Food with lots of additives, fat or sugar can make you violent and anti-social. Natural
foods like fresh fruit and vegetables, which contain lots of vitamins and minerals, can make you
more intelligent, optimistic and energetic.
So think twice before you start eating!
