Communications/Marketing Associate
JOB POSTING

Goals & Objectives:


As part of the team at Winnipeg Harvest, the communications associate is responsible for helping
the communications and development department to advance the goals and mission of Winnipeg
Harvest in day-to-day public relations activities and special events in particular website and social
media support.
Job Description:
Develop, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the website and social media platforms.
This includes developing and executing a social media strategy, analyzing and
interpreting metrics, responding appropriately to questions or positive/negative comments
in a timely manner.
Develop, design, and produce new internal/external communications, and marketing
collateral (e.g. brochures, presentations, etc.) with consistent branding, using appropriate
positioning and media buys.
Assist with the development of public relations strategies, key messages, and collateral,
including news releases and media kits, as well sponsorship packages and other
Winnipeg Harvest marketing materials.
Attend events (as required) to assist with media relations, as well as to cover activities
and campaigns from a social media perspective.
Support Winnipeg Harvest and Manitoba Association of Food Banks (MAFB) as
required in province wide food distribution initiatives
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate university degree or two-year Creative Communications
diploma with a focus on public relations preferred, with at least 2 years of
related experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Ability to work flexible hours (evenings/weekends) is required. Candidate must possess a current valid
drivers license and reliable vehicle.
The ideal candidate will have a strong belief in the dignity of all human beings and a
positive, caring attitude. You are able to work in a variety of situations with a variety of
diverse of groups and individuals, have a collaborative work style, and the ability to
manage and adapt to multiple projects and deadlines.
Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills, superb writing,
editing, and research skills, and demonstrated experience with PC and/or Mac
platforms, including Microsoft Office.
Must have experience with social media, and the ability to design and develop
communications tools (e.g.: brochures, newsletters, web content, etc.). Demonstrated
knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign and Photoshop is required.
Videography and photography skills and experience in the non-profit sector would be an asset.
40 hour work week

Regular hours 8:30 to4:30 Monday to Friday
