Information and communication technologies (ICT) are becoming an
important part in a students learning experience, as the technology grows its important that us as teachers grow with it. ICT has opened the door for new possibilities when teaching within a classroom. When it comes to creating an ICT Integration Project, its important that our task was inquiry oriented and can encourage students to problem solve and achieve a set objectives. In saying so, one of our main aims was also to create a task that supported blooms Taxonomy and catered for differentiated learning. To support this objective we believed the structure of a Web Quest was most suitable for the project as it supports the students in self directed learning. It was important to us that we included the following within the structure of our web quest: Motivation, production and reflection/reflection. It was highlighted that we promoted motivation and self-direction when it came to learning through the use of ICT tools, but we made sure to include an assessment/rubric of some sort to actually reflect on what the students have discovered or the extension of their knowledge. Once we had confirmed our structure, our understanding of the project was to clearly define and support our chosen learning theory throughout the tasks set for students. Social constructivism theory is based around the idea of students self-directing when it comes to learning experiences. As mentioned through out this statement, our focus was on differentiated learning and encouraging students to learn new knowledge through questioning, exploring and reflecting, hence the chosen learning theory. Our last aim we believed was an absolute requirement for the ICT Integration Project was to make sure it was a co-operative based task. We have covered what we believe is the structure and learning theory, however its important that the task also promotes collaborative experience for the whole classroom. We presented this information by giving the students the opportunity to play a role within their group/class when completing the project. This idea performs in conjunction with choosing the right type of ICT tools, which helps elaborate all that has been stated so far. We believe we have created a high quality ICT integration project by understanding and taking in consideration of all the ideas and requirements that needed to be met. Such understandings include; Blooms taxonomy and differentiated learning, Web quest structure, learning theory (Social constructivism) and also to choosing the appropriate amount and type of ICT tools.
