POSITION: AA1 - Family Programming & Education Day Coordinator Summer Solstice and Spring Event - Aboriginal

Festival
CONTRACT LENGTH: 26 weeks
START DATE: ASAP END DATE: For Set Weeks
JOB SUMMARY: Assist with the coordination and implementation of all programming and workshops to support educational
and family markets for the two events.
REPORTING: Reports to and working directly under the supervision of the Executive Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with the development, coordination and implementation of Family and Educational programming related activities including
but not limited to family fun zone, visual arts/craft and cultural pavilions with exhibits, demonstrations and interactive workshops; will
also include where applicable related arts/community outreach or educational activities;
Assist with the development, coordination and implementation of all Educational day programming for Summer Solstice Aboriginal
Festival which welcomed 6,000 students and teachers in 2015. Works with the Performing Arts Coordinator;
Explore new programming elements/ enhancements that will successfully engage families of all ages and students/teachers;
Update/disseminate invite/registration of schools; arranges bus transportation.
Assist in the parking management plans for student arrival/departure;
Liaison with all Education Day and Family Programming artists/resource persons (not managed by Performing Arts Coordinator) to
validate/confirm all logistical, travel and accommodation needs,;
Collect photos, bios and social media links of programming artists/suppliers that relate to Family Programming and Education Day;
Create, forward and collect artists/program suppliers contracts
Provide administrative support to the SSAF Coordinator including assisting with Festival evaluation and make recommendations with
the submission of annual post-event report;
Assist the SSAF Coordinator during Festival implementation phase and during event to ensure successful program delivery,

SKILLS REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or higher level of education; Computer literate using MS Office programs/Google Docs
Ability to work under pressure and on various projects simultaneously and autonomously, excellent organizational
skills;
Excellent phone and interpersonal skills; Professional and punctual; Previous office/event coordination an asset
Detail oriented and a Team Player, creativity and flexibility with strong written and verbal skills;
Valid Drivers license;
Bilingualism a definite asset, but not mandatory
INDUSTRY CONTACTS:
The participant will be interacting with: Organizing Committees, Team Members, Programming Artists/Resource persons,
Exhibitors, Suppliers, Sponsors, VIPs and representatives from the local community.
