Abstract

Maintenance management plays a significant role in

any sector or filed. Maintenance management is
include computerized maintenance management
system (CMMS). CMMS is an efficient program.
CMMS is implementing in any sector either industry
sector, medical sector, institutional sector and other
sector. CMMS is a good program to increase
organization efficiency or productivity. In this paper,
it determines the CMMS approach in medical sector,
industry sector and also institutional sector.
1.1. CMMS Application On Medical Field
Medical is one of the sectors that have been
used computerized maintenance management system
(CMMS) in their operation. Efficiency is affected by
Systematic approach in any field ( Kizim, A.V.,2013).
In term of technology, CMMS is really useful to
provide a good technology application and it also
increase efficiency in the organization. In medical,
either maintenance approach or all medical
equipment is using CMMS to support organizational
towards CMMS approach (Ted Cohen et. al., 2000).
1.2. Method in Implement CMMS in Medical
Sector.
CMMS is the computerized program that or
computer software that been used for record
asset of company. In medical sector or hospital,
CMMS also need for support organization.
Nowadays, CMMS is also used in hospital
and health care system. By using CMMS, it
can provide technology management of staffing,
equipment inventory and maintenance needed
(Ted Cohen et. al., 2000).however, to implement
CMMS program, it need to constructive spirit
and dedication. In addition, if does not have any
record of maintenance management (j. Abreu et.
al., 2013).to implement CMMS program, there
have a few steps that have been used in
hospital:

Figure 1.1. Method in implementing

CMMS program at hospital or medical
sector (Ted Cohen et. al., 2000).

a) Equipment management
Equipment management is the
initial step of implementing
CMMS. In the first step, the
equipment
will
be
track.
Accurate information and detail
of equipment such as number
series of equipment, lifetime
span
and
specification
of
equipment is crucial. Lack of
information and detail will be

affected data collection and

CMMS program.
In addition, sometimes, hospital
equipment was been track or
label. It makes CMMS approach
effortless. However, sometimes,
data or equipment track is
incomplete or never track.
Because of that it will make
CMMS program longer. New
received equipment and old
equipment is also need to be
track for accurate information.
b) Data collection
Maintenance
work
order,
scheduled of work order, new
equipment order and other is a
primary data that need to be
taken. It is important to record
all of data. It is a primary
incoming data. In hospital, there
have lot equipment.
Large
hospitals usually have more
than 10000 devices and have
20000 work orders ((Ted Cohen
et. al., 2000).any work order
need to be done and it will be
make statistical analysis over a
year. With statistical analysis, it
make easier to take action
toward each order. It is also can
be
more
efficient
in
maintenance management (Ted
Cohen et. al., 2000).
c) Equipment inventory
In medical sector, each of
devices is important. Biomedical
equipment technician (BMET) is
a responsible team that will
ensure the order is complete.
BMET should ensure the device
is inspect and test, have
manual, type of device, criteria

that include in organization,

policies of clinical engineering
organization
and
determine
either the equipment is needed
in maintenance management
program(Ted Cohen et. al.,
2000).
d) Integrated history record
Integrated history record is a
part of recording the repair or
maintenance that has been
done
with
assign
person
responsible.

Conclusion
CMMS approaches in medical
sector give more benefit for
example accuracy of equipment
detail, maintenance work order
and
costing.
However,
to
implement CMMS is need much
time or long period. It is
because they have to tracked
and tagging each of equipment
with accurate information.
