Alignment
Align - Automatically aligns two pieces of pipe during routing, piping, and connecting. For
example, if there is a pipe out 95 degrees from a 90 degree elbow, the alignment adjusts the
current pipe in the direction of the 90 degrees from 95 by adjusting the current pipe end point
near the intersection while keeping the previous pipe fixed. This is also done with a 45 degree
elbow.
Tol Angle - Specifies the tolerance angle for the alignment. If the difference between the actual
angle of the two pipes and the angles of 180, 90, 45, 22.5, or 11.25 is beyond the Tol Angle,
Align does not apply.
Tol Linear - Specifies the tolerance length for inserting valves and setting the specification
using From Point Cloud. For more information, see Insert a valve or flange (on page 28) and
From Point Cloud (on page 30).
Insulation - Specifies the amount of insulation around the piping in the point cloud drawing. If
you have insulation on a piece of pipe, type the value here. When you click a pipe using
Routing with elbows
or Piping without elbows
, the software calculates the size of the
pipe by reducing the size based on the amount of insulation you entered here.
Default Fitting - Specifics the default end type fitting for the components.
Specification
Set - Enables you to set the specification through the Set Specification and Size dialog box.
For more information, see Set Specification and Size in the CADWorx Plant Users Guide.
From Point Cloud - Enables you to set the rating of the specification automatically. For more
information, see From Point Cloud (on page 30).
Specification List - Lists available specifications in the currently selected project.
View
Hide Components(On/Off) - Hides or shows the components in a fieldPipe drawing.
When a pipe is inserted into fieldPipe, the software detects the size and places the piping
according to the algorithm in the code.
If two pipes with different size need to be connected with an elbow, the software changes
the smaller pipe into the same size as the larger one, in order to connect with an elbow.

Stakeout
Seek and Check - Enables you to verify a point's location in the drawing and reports the
accuracy by printing coordinate information in the drawing. The instrument first turns toward the
coordinates of the selected point on site, takes a measurement, and then displays the distance.
If you clear the Seek and Check option, then the software performs an automatic stakeout. For
more information, see Stakeout a selected point (on page 46). A Stakeout turns the instrument
toward the coordinates of the selected point on site.
Picked Z - Checks the point acquired by the instrument. When you select an object in the
drawing, the instrument turns toward the coordinates of the selected point on site, and then
displays the difference in distance for the X, Y, and Z coordinates. The measure option
displays the instruments calculated location for the acquired point in space.
Float Z - Checks the point acquired by the instrument and considers only the X-Y
coordinates. When you select an object in the drawing, the instrument turns toward the
coordinates of the selected point on site, and then displays the difference in the distance for
the X, Y, and Z coordinates. The X-Y coordinates give you the distance from the original
point to the new point.
X-Y Tolerance - Specifies an X-Y tolerance. The software uses this distance for
rounding when necessary. If the difference between the selected object in the drawing
and the distance captured by the instrument is within the tolerance, no difference
displays in the drawing. If the difference between the selected object in the drawing and
the distance captured by the instrument is greater than the tolerance, then the
difference displays in the X, Y, and Z coordinates. The software displays the distance
from the original point to the new point in the X,Y, and Z coordinates.
Offset Z - Checks the point acquired by the instrument. The Z Offset value specifies the
new location of a point in space. When you select an object in the drawing, the instrument
turns toward the coordinates of the selected point on site, and then displays a distance in
the X, Y, and Z coordinates.
Z Offset - Specifies the offset Z value to accurately acquire exact points at the offset.
This offset value can be positive or negative. The instrument moves in the Z direction
based on this value.
Acquire - Sends a command to the instrument to acquire a point indicated by the laser.

Scenarios
Following are some common scenarios in which TruSpace and KeyPlan tools can be applied:
Scenario 1: Freestyle viewing and sight-seeing using the KeyPlan and TruSpace viewers
You can synchronize the viewpoint in the active CAD viewport to be driven by the viewpoint in
the TruSpace viewer. When synchronized, the AutoCAD viewpoint automatically follows the
TruSpace viewpoint. You may find viewing to be more accessible in the TruSpace viewer,
because TruSpace content is based on each scanner's position.
1. Launch a KeyPlan (already prepared) under a database.
2. Launch a TruSpace viewer from a scanner displayed in the KeyPlan viewer.
3. Enable sync of View Point.
The active AutoCAD viewport is synchronized with the TruSpace viewer.
69
70
Open TruSpace
CADWorx fieldPipe tab: CLX TruSpace > Open TruSpace
CloudWorx menu: TruSpace Tools > Open TruSpace
Command line: CWTSOPEN
Prompts you to pick a cloud point, and displays the TruSpace Tools viewer. If there are points
from more than one scanner near the selected point, then those scanners are listed with their
distances to the point. Select the scanner position to use.
Enable Sync - Toggles viewpoint synchronization with the TruSpace viewer on or off. When
synchronization is off, the AutoCAD viewpoint does not update to match the TruSpace
viewpoint.
3D Point - When this is enabled, CloudWorx submits the 3D pick from the TruSpace viewer to
the command line, for use by AutoCAD commands that accept 3D coordinates. (Use Pick on
Cloud for CloudWorx commands.)
Pick on Cloud - When this is enabled, CloudWorx recomputes the pick made in the TruSpace
viewer based on the closest cloud points visible in the AutoCAD window. Recomputation may
fail if there are not enough points near the selected point, or when the points are clipped or
hidden in CloudWorx. (Use 3D Point for non-CloudWorx commands.)
View Point - When this is enabled, the viewpoint of the active AutoCAD viewport automatically
updates to be the same as the TruSpace viewpoint. When needed, use the Regenerate Point
Clouds command to load more detail.
Quick Limit Box - Clips the point clouds with a predefined limit box size (see the B= setting)
around the pick made in the TruSpace viewer. This clips and hides the points outside the limit
box. You can turn off the limit box using the Limit Box Off command.
Close TruSpace
CADWorx fieldPipe tab: CLX TruSpace > Close TruSpace

Color Mapping
CADWorx fieldPipe tab: CLX Accessories > Color Mapping
CloudWorx menu: Color Mapping
Command line: CWCOLORMAP
Globally overrides point cloud coloring. Initial point cloud coloring can be replaced by true color
or intensity mapping (if available).
Color Schemes
Sets the color scheme of the point cloud. These colors directly relate to the selected Global
Color Mapping as described below:
Multi-Hue - Correlates to the reflectivity of the point when it was scanned. Must be selected
when True Color has been selected. Can be selected when Intensity is selected.
Greyscale - Correlates to the reflectivity of the point when it was scanned. Can be selected
when Intensity is selected.
Scaled Red - Single color option and can be selected when Intensity is selected.
Scaled Green - Single color option and can be selected when Intensity is selected.
Scaled Blue - Single color option and can be selected when Intensity is selected.
Topo 1 (BGBrO) - Colors are based on the elevation set in the Elevation/Distance
Mapping. Can be selected when Elevation has been selected.
Topo 1 (BrGW) - Colors are based on the elevation set in the Elevation/Distance
Mapping. Can be selected when Elevation has been selected.
Topo 1 (BGYBrPW) - Colors are based on the elevation set in the Elevation/Distance
Mapping. Can be selected when Elevation has been selected.
Elevation/Distance Mapping
Set up the starting elevation, the delta of each color shift, and the direction it will go (primarily
up). A good idea is to limit the number of colors to 16 when using this option because the color
shifts are much more prevalent. Also be sure to check the Repeat color out of range box. This
allows the colors to repeat after 16 colors.
77
Minimum - Specifies the minimum intensity for the color of the cloud.
Maximum - Specifies the maximum intensity for the color of the cloud.
Actual - Specifies the actual intensity for the color of the cloud.
Number of Colors - Specifies the number of colors in the palette that the cloud will be colored
with. Typically this number should always be set at 256 unless using Elevation Mapping, where
it should be limited to 16.
Repeat color out of range - Repeats colors when the Number of Colors set reaches its limit,
such as with the Elevation Mapping option.
Gamma Correction - Sets and specifies where a number closer to 1 has a darker cloud, and
numbers closer to 0 have a washed out or overexposed look and feel in the cloud. Typically, if
you select a number between .45 and .65, that yields the best point cloud appearance.
Select No Override to display each point cloud using its own setting or layer override.
Select Intensity Mapping to display all point clouds with intensity-mapped colors. If
intensity data is not available, CloudWorx attempts to use true color data (if available),
and then a single color.
Select True Color to display all point clouds with true color mapped into the AutoCAD
palette. If true color data is not present for a point cloud, the point cloud uses intensity
data (if available), and then a single color.
3. If Intensity Mapping is chosen from the Global Color Mapping list, select a mapping
Color Scheme, and then adjust the intensity mapping range if necessary.
From the Color Scheme drop-down list, select Grayscale, Multi-Hue, or a scaled
individual color with which to display the intensity map.
To adjust the intensity mapping range, enter a value for the lowest intensity (to be
mapped to the low end of the selected color scheme in the Minimum box), and then
enter a value (for the highest intensity to be mapped to the high end of the selected
color) in the Maximum box. Intensities lower than the minimum or higher than the
maximum are given the minimum's or maximums color respectively. The Minimum and
Maximum settings typically range from 0 to 1. These values correspond to the range
from dark to bright (from red through yellow and green to blue for the Multi-Hue setting).
For a greater difference in shades, set a more narrow range.
78
Point Sources
CADWorx fieldPipe tab: CLX Accessories > Point Sources
CloudWorx menu: Point Sources
Command line: CWREF
Opens the Point Source Manager dialog box, which is used to view or Delete point sources.
Delete - Deletes the point source.
CloudWorx has the ability to connect to multiple ModelSpace Views simultaneously. The
first ModelSpace View is called the master ModelSpace View. Others are called
ModelSpace View references.
When you select one Point Source (connection) in the list control, the information about the
Point Source displays in the bottom box.
ScanWorld Explorer
CADWorx fieldPipe tab: CLX Accessories > ScanWorld Explorer
CloudWorx menu: ScanWorld Explorer
Command line: CWSCANWORLD
Opens the ScanWorld Explorer dialog box, which is used to perform various functions relating
to the source ScanWorld for the opened ModelSpace View. The ScanWorlds for any externally
referenced ModelSpace Views are not displayed.
A ScanWorld is a collection of point clouds (scans) that are aligned with respect to a common
coordinate system. The ScanWorld Explorer allows you to show or hide the field of view of
each available scanner and access detailed information on a specific scanner.
79
Configure Databases
CADWorx fieldPipe tab: CLX Accessories > Configure Databases
CloudWorx menu: Configure Databases
Command line: CWDBCFG
Opens the Configure Databases dialog box, which is used to:
Create shortcuts
With a valid Cyclone license installed on your computer, the Cyclone Navigator window can
also be used to configure and manage the databases, ModelSpace Views, and shortcuts. With a
CloudWorx license only, the CWDBCFG command must be used to create ModelSpace Views
and shortcuts.
Servers - Opens the Configure Servers dialog box, where you can Add or Remove servers.
Databases - Opens the Configure Databases on <PC Name> dialog box, where you can Add,
Remove, Destroy, Compact, and Optimize a database.
Create View - Creates a new view of the ModelSpace when the modelspace is selected.
Create Shortcut - Creates a shortcut in the Shortcuts folder for the ModelSpace when the
modelspace is selected.
Delete - Deletes the ModelSpace view.
To remove a server, select the server to remove from the Servers list, and then click
Remove.
To toggle the visibility of a server in the Configure Databases dialog box, select or clear the
box below Visibility next to the server.
80
The logical name is how the database is referred to by CloudWorx; it is the name
displayed in the Configure Databases dialog box.
If you leave the Database Name box empty, CloudWorx bases the logical name on the
file name entered in the Database Filename box.
To rename a ModelSpace View: click the name of the ModelSpace View to be changed,
click it again after a short pause to select the current name, type a new name, and then
press ENTER.
81
Limitations
It is strongly suggested that you do not have Cyclone Navigator View open when you run
this function. Cyclone Navigator View is open when you launch the Cyclone program.
Some functions may develop database lock contentions when Navigator View tries to
respond to changes such as adding or removing multiple databases.
If you try to destroy a database from Cyclone Navigator View, make sure that CloudWorx
is not currently opening a ModelSpace View that belongs to the database.
You cannot destroy a database from CloudWorx when you have ModelSpace View open.
Snap/Visibility
CADWorx fieldPipe tab: CLX Accessories > Snap/Visibility
CloudWorx menu: Snap/Visibility
Command line: CWSNAP, CWVISIBLE
Opens the Point Cloud Snap/Visibility dialog box, which is used to toggle the ability to snap to
points in a point cloud or toggle the overall visibility of point clouds. Points may still be hidden by
the limit box, hidden regions, slice, and section.
82
Object snapping must be turned ON with the Node type enabled to allow snapping to cloud
points.
Set Load Limit (on page 56) (CWLOADMAX) limits the maximum allowed number of points
to be loaded. If the current viewport setting requires more points than the load limit,
CloudWorx reduces the level of detail to comply with the limit. This setting is related to the
computer's speed and memory capacity for performance.
Use Set Regen Factor (on page 57) (CWSETREGEN) to change the virtual viewport size
factor used for cloud regeneration.
Regenerate Point Clouds forces load points that are needed to display in the selected
view.
To regenerate all points needed to view maximum detail in the current view, type
CWREGEN on the command line.
You can change the point loading and rendering density using any of the
CWPOINTSPACING commands. Better point density requires more time to load and render
the points. When you choose lower point density, it is faster for CWREGEN to regenerate
the point clouds for the viewport.
83
Clash Manager
CADWorx fieldPipe tab: CLX Accessories > Clash Manager
CloudWorx menu: Interference > Clash Manager
Command line: CWCLASHMGR
Enables you to check point clouds against CADWorx models. It identifies the locations (clusters
of points) where the scanned point clouds interfere with the theoretical CADWorx models of the
proposed new design.
Close - Closes the Clash Manager dialog box. All clashing points, as well as the cluster boxes
that are displayed, are reset.
Process
- Select objects and proceed with general clash check. The result is multiple
records showing the clashing regions. Each region is represented by a box. The new records
have a clashing state but are not approved. The initial status of a clash is Unspecified.

85
If the drawing has been changed, then it may cause the clashing situation to change, and
you need to reprocess the clashing. You can either select the objects and Process again, or
select a clash record to Verify.
When you Verify an existing clash record, all clashing records related to this group of
AutoCAD objects are verified. The following are possible results:
If an object exists but no matching clash region is found, then Process Result is
changed to Cleared.
New clash regions are added as new clashing records and are set to Clashing and
Unspecified for review.
All the records generated stay in the Clash Manager dialog box unless you delete them.
You can export the records to a text file (tab-delimited). It can be imported into Excel or a
database where you can generate reports on your own.
Interference Check
CADWorx fieldPipe tab: CLX Accessories > Interference Check
CloudWorx menu: Interference > Interference Check
Command line: CWINTERFERENCECHECK
Opens the Interference Check dialog box, which finds and highlights the interfering points
between cloud points and CADWorx objects. The result of interference check is a cluster of
points represented by a range box. You can select each cluster and view the detail.
Process
- Select objects and proceed with general clash check. The result is multiple
records showing the clashing regions. Each region is represented by a box. The new records
have a clashing state but are not approved. The initial status of a clash is Unspecified.
Display Clashing Points
Align to Clash
Settings
- Opens the Clash Settings dialog box to change parameters used for displaying
clashing points. You can show or hide original cloud points when displaying clashing points. You
can change the interference threshold (tolerance, usually smaller than general inspection) used
to calculate and display the interfering points.
86
Clipping Only - Indicates that only the points that are not clipped are checked.
Hide Original Points - Indicates that only interfering points are displayed as the result.
Initial Point Mode - Enables you to choose between displaying interfering points or noninterfering points.
Clash Tolerance - Sets the tolerance of the clash. If minimum distance between a cloud
point and geometric object is smaller than this tolerance, it is treated as interfering.
Cluster Distance - Sets the distance for the cluster tolerance. If two groups of interfering
points are at least at the distance value entered here, they are not going to be in one cluster
of points.
Density Threshold - Sets the density threshold. The interference checking program uses
this parameter to stop computing at this density level.
Interfering Point Color - Specifies the color used to display interfering or non-interfering
points.
3. Click Process
, then select the entities you want to clash against. Press ENTER to
complete the selection set.
Computing starts and may take some time depending on the scale of the point cloud base.
Results are listed in the dialog. Each item is a cluster of points and is represented by a
range box. Each item shows the center of box, size of box, and the number of interfering
points the clash computation got.
The number of interfering points is just a reference. It may change depending on the
level of points loaded. The real interest is the cluster size.
You can select one or more cluster records and click Display to highlight interfering points
of the selected clusters. If you want to remove all highlighted points, select no cluster, and
then click Display again.
You can select one cluster record and click Zoom to fit the cluster box into the active
viewport.
When you close this dialog box, it clears all the interfering points and restores the original
point cloud display.
Refer to Clash Manager (on page 84) for advanced clash management between point
clouds and CADWorx objects.
87
All the coordinates and distance parameters are based on the current user coordinate
system and unit preference.
You can use AutoCAD's measurement and dimension tools to measure between cloud
points. Be sure to snap to a cloud point whenever a data point is expected.
All the coordinates and distance parameters are based on the UCS and unit preference.
When Snap to Cloud Points is enabled, and when AutoCAD Object Snap is turned on and
Node type is checked, all the commands including the AutoCAD commands that expect a
3D point clicking performs picking on point clouds. When a cloud point is picked, the 3D
position returns as the result of 3D point. However the result may not be compatible with
some 2D commands, such as POLYLINE.

Patch
CADWorx fieldPipe tab: CLX Piping > Patch
CloudWorx menu: Fit Point Cloud > Patch
Command line: CWFITPATCH
Opens the Fit Patch dialog box, which best-fits a patch from one or more pick points in the point
cloud.
Convex Hull - Produces a convex polygon that surrounds the points.
Minimum Rectangle - Produces a rectangle with the minimum surface area that surrounds the
fit points.
Maximum RMS Error - Specifies the sampling error of the original point cloud. If the fit quality
does not meet this number, the fit is rejected.
Pick - Enables you to pick the point on a cylinder.
Fence - Enables you to pick multiple points with a fence.

Section
CADWorx fieldPipe tab: CLX Piping > Section
CloudWorx menu: Fit Point Cloud > Section
Command line: CWFITSECTION
Opens the Best Fit Section dialog box, which adjusts lines, polylines, or arcs to best fit a slice
of a point cloud.
Lock Shape (Rigid) - Adjusts the position and orientation of the section without changing its
shape.
Polar Tracking - Aligns the segments of the section to the Increment angle of the current
AutoCAD Polar Tracking settings.
Snap and Grid - Aligns the segments of the section to the Snap X spacing and Snap Y
spacing of the current AutoCAD Snap and Grid settings. The values for Angle, X base and Y
base must be set to zero.
Polar Tracking and Snap and Grid use the current UCS as a reference. The UCS must be
aligned to the plane of the slice to use these options.
Polar Tracking or Snap and Grid applies the values of the current AutoCAD settings even
if these options are not enabled in AutoCAD.
Clicking Grid Locks ellipsis displays the AutoCAD Drafting Settings dialog box directly
from CloudWorx.
Tolerances
If the fit quality does not meet the Point Accuracy, the fit is rejected.
Objects that can be selected are: line, arc, circle, 2D polyline, 3D polyline and lightweight polyline. Inserted blocks and 2D polylines representing meshes or fit curve
objects are not supported.
For best results, work in a viewpoint aligned to the plane of the slice.
5. Continue picking points for each section or object you want to fit, then press ENTER.
The section is fit and the results are displayed.
Section is aligned to the center of the point cloud slice.
