Matthew 25:14-30

14 Again,

the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated

by the story of a man going on a long trip. He called
together his servants and entrusted his money to
them while he was gone. 15 He gave five bags of
silver to one, two bags of silver to another, and one
bag of silver to the lastdividing it in proportion to
their abilities. He then left on his trip. 16 The servant
who received the five bags of silver began to invest
the money and earned five more.

17 The

servant with two bags of silver also went to

work and earned two more. 18 But the servant who
received the one bag of silver dug a hole in the
ground and hid the masters money. 19 After a long
time their master returned from his trip and called
them to give an account of how they had used his
money. 20 The servant to whom he had entrusted the
five bags of silver came forward with five more and
said, Master, you gave me five bags of silver to
invest, and I have earned five more.

Matthew 25:17-20

21 The

master was full of praise. Well done, my good

and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling
this small amount, so now I will give you many more
responsibilities. Lets celebrate together! 22 The
servant who had received the two bags of silver came
forward and said, Master, you gave me two bags of
silver to invest, and I have earned two more. 23 The
master said, Well done, my good and faithful servant.
You have been faithful in handling this small amount,
so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Lets
celebrate together!

Matthew 25:21-23

24 Then

the servant with the one bag of silver

came and said, Master, I knew you were a harsh
man, harvesting crops you didnt plant and
gathering crops you didnt cultivate.25 I was
afraid I would lose your money, so I hid it in the
earth. Look, here is your money back.

Matthew 25:24-25

26 But

the master replied, You wicked and lazy

servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didnt
plant and gathered crops I didnt
cultivate, 27 why didnt you deposit my money in
the bank? At least I could have gotten some
interest on it. 28 Then he ordered, Take the
money from this servant, and give it to the one
with the ten bags of silver.

Matthew 25:26-28

29 To

those who use well what they are given, even

more will be given, and they will have an
abundance. But from those who do nothing, even
what little they have will be taken away. 30 Now
throw this useless servant into outer darkness,
where there will be weeping and gnashing of
teeth.

Matthew 25:29-30

Nehemiah 10:28-39
28 Then

the rest of the peoplethe priests, Levites,

gatekeepers, singers, Temple servants, and all who had
separated themselves from the pagan people of the land in
order to obey the Law of God, together with their wives,
sons, daughters, and all who were old enough to
understand 29 joined their leaders and bound themselves
with an oath. They swore a curse on themselves if they
failed to obey the Law of God as issued by his servant
Moses. They solemnly promised to carefully follow all the
commands, regulations, and decrees of the LORD our Lord:

30 We

promise not to let our daughters

marry the pagan people of the land, and not
to let our sons marry their daughters. 31 We
also promise that if the people of the land
should bring any merchandise or grain to be
sold on the Sabbath or on any other holy
day, we will refuse to buy it. Every seventh
year we will let our land rest, and we will
cancel all debts owed to us.

Nehemiah 10:30-31

32 In

addition, we promise to obey the command to

pay the annual Temple tax of one-eighth of an ounce
of silver for the care of the Temple of our God. 33 This
will provide for the Bread of the Presence; for the
regular grain offerings and burnt offerings; for the
offerings on the Sabbaths, the new moon
celebrations, and the annual festivals; for the holy
offerings; and for the sin offerings to make
atonement for Israel. It will provide for everything
necessary for the work of the Temple of our God.

Nehemiah 10:32-33

34 We

have cast sacred lots to determine

whenat regular times each yearthe families
of the priests, Levites, and the common people
should bring wood to Gods Temple to be
burned on the altar of the LORD our God, as is
written in the Law. 35 We promise to bring the
first part of every harvest to the LORDs Temple
year after yearwhether it be a crop from the
soil or from our fruit trees.

Nehemiah 10:34-35

36 We

agree to give God our oldest sons and the

firstborn of all our herds and flocks, as prescribed in the
Law. We will present them to the priests who minister in
the Temple of our God. 37 We will store the produce in
the storerooms of the Temple of our God. We will bring
the best of our flour and other grain offerings, the best
of our fruit, and the best of our new wine and olive oil.
And we promise to bring to the Levites a tenth of
everything our land produces, for it is the Levites who
collect the tithes in all our rural towns.

Nehemiah 10:36-37

38 A

priesta descendant of Aaronwill be with the

Levites as they receive these tithes. And a tenth of
all that is collected as tithes will be delivered by the
Levites to the Temple of our God and placed in the
storerooms. 39 The people and the Levites must bring
these offerings of grain, new wine, and olive oil to
the storerooms and place them in the sacred
containers near the ministering priests, the
gatekeepers, and the singers. We promise together
not to neglect the Temple of our God.

Nehemiah 10:38-39

Hebrews 13:5-21
5 Dont

love money; be satisfied with

what you have. For God has said, I will
never fail you. I will never abandon
you. 6 So we can say with confidence,
The LORD is my helper, so I will have no
fear. What can mere people do to me?

Hebrews 13:7-8
7 Remember

your leaders who taught

you the word of God. Think of all the
good that has come from their lives, and
follow the example of their faith. 8 Jesus
Christ is the same yesterday, today, and
forever.

9 So

do not be attracted by strange, new

ideas. Your strength comes from Gods
grace, not from rules about food, which
dont help those who follow them.
10 We have an altar from which the priests
in the Tabernacle have no right to eat.

Hebrews 13:9-12

11 Under

the old system, the high priest

brought the blood of animals into the Holy
Place as a sacrifice for sin, and the bodies
of the animals were burned outside the
camp. 12 So also Jesus suffered and died
outside the city gates to make his people
holy by means of his own blood.

Hebrews 13:11-12

13 So

let us go out to him, outside the camp, and

bear the disgrace he bore. 14 For this world is not
our permanent home; we are looking forward
to a home yet to come. 15 Therefore, let us offer
through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to
God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name.
16 And dont forget to do good and to share with
those in need. These are the sacrifices that
please God.

Hebrews 13:13-16

17 Obey

your spiritual leaders, and do what they

say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and
they are accountable to God. Give them reason
to do this with joy and not with sorrow. That
would certainly not be for your benefit. 18 Pray
for us, for our conscience is clear and we want to
live honorably in everything we do. 19 And
especially pray that I will be able to come back
to you soon

Hebrews 13:17-19

20 Now

may the God of peacewho brought

up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great
Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an
eternal covenant with his blood21 may he
equip you with all you need for doing his
will. May he produce in you, through the
power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that
is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever
and ever! Amen.
