X-Tech DeckCoat CP - General Use

1.0 Labor
Application of coatings is a skilled trade and should only be carried out by
experienced painters. Application by unskilled labor may result in a poor surface
finish, variable thickness and high wastage.
2.0 Surface Preparation
Attention to full and proper preparation of the substrate is essential for complete
repair adhesion.
New concrete, or cementitious substrates should be at least 28 days old and have
moisture content not exceeding 5%.
Existing concrete floors, which require refurbishment, must be prepared to ensure a
strong adhesive bond between the flooring system and the existing floor.
The substrate (new or existing) should be clean, sound and free from
contamination such as mortar and paint splashes curing compounds, oil and grease.
Excess laitence deposits are best removed by light mechanical scabbling, grinding
or grit/captive blasting followed by vacuum cleaning to remove dust debris. All
preparation equipment should be of a type approved by X-Calibur.
All blowholes and other surface undulations greater than 1 mm in depth should be
repaired using X-Shield BugFill.
Oil and grease contamination must be completely removed by grinding down to
sound, clean concrete. Alternatively, captive/grit-blasting techniques can be used to
provide the required substrate.
Where these methods are considered impracticable, alternative methods may be
considered but a clean, sound and dry substrate must still result. In particular it is
essential that the substrate does not suffer from conditions of rising damp. Any
alternative preparations must be approved by X-Calibur prior to commencement of
work, as X-Calibur will not accept responsibility under any other condition.

3.0 Substrate Priming

Immediately prior to priming, the substrate should be thoroughly cleaned to
remove any remaining traces of dust or other loose material. Apply X-Tech
DeckCoat CP Primer to the prepared surface at a wet film thickness of 150 to 200
microns this will equate to a theoretical coverage rate of 5m2/liter. Whilst X-Tech
DeckCoat CP Primer is still wet, seed with X-Shield Anti Skid Grains at 0.5 to 1.0
kg/m2 and allow to cure for 12 hours at 30C. If Anti Skid Grains are not used then
