Feeders
The Contractor shall provide one fuel feeder for each pulverizing mill. The feeders shall
be gravimetric type and equipped with microprocessor based precision weighing and
calibration devices for each mill.
The feeders shall be complete with motor, coupling, coupling guards, base plate,
foundation bolts, sliding joints, paddle type switches to detect presence or absence of
fuel on feeder or choking of feeder, variable speed drive, speed sensors, fuel motion
monitors, and strain gauge type weighing measuring system with all instrumentation.
The feeders shall be sized to meet 110% of the pulverising mills maximum capacity. The
bidder shall provide necessary isolation device for each feeder from the relevant
equipment in such a way that, repair and maintenance work can be performed on the
feeder during the steam generator operation without interruption. The fuel is extracted
from the bunkers by gravimetric feeders at variable rates as required by the operation of
steam generator. All feeders fuel feed rate shall be reduced or increased with the same
percentage in accordance with the required steam generator load. Fuel feed to the mills
should be smooth during the load changes and measured and controlled as accurately
as possible. The weighing shall be automatic and shall include local and remote
indication for rate of flow and totalizer counter. The feeder system shall be equipped all
necessary instrumentation for automatic control. Each feeder will be equipped with a
local control panel. The weighing accuracy of the feeder shall be better than 0.5% with
repeatability of 0.1%. Facility for in-built calibration shall be provided.
The Contractor shall design the feeder casing to withstand an explosion pressure as
per NFPA. The feeder parts materials shall be of appropriate material with wear
resistant properties.
The internal diameter of the chute between feeder outlet and mills inlet shall not less
than 400 mm. This chute shall not have any reduction in section throughout the length,
including at entry point on top of the mill.
