Measures and tolerances

The measures of the pieces must be in accordance with those

specified in the project drawings or manufacturer's catalogue,
approved for manufacture.
Unless opposite indication, for the indicated measures where zero
tolerance is not specified, the following tolerances will be applied:

Measures up to 35 mm
Measures higher than 35 mm

4.3

+ -0.7 mm
+ - 2%.

Anticorrosion Protection

All the components of the fixation elements and joints shall be

resistant to corrosion, either by the nature of the material or by
applying an adequate protection.
The election of the constituent materials of the elements shall be
done taking into consideration that the contact of different materials
must not be allowed because the difference of the galvanic potential
can cause corrosion of electrolytic nature.
Except the stainless steel, ferrous materials should be protected by
hot dip galvanizing according to the standard ASTM 153.
4.4

Threaded elements

Unless other specifications, threads with metrical profile will be used.

To prevent the loosening of the threaded elements, locking devices
such as spring washers, pins, etc. will be used.
Whenever an item performed the fixation of the cable though
threaded components, the manufacturer will provide information
regarding the tightening torque.
4.5

Mechanical Characteristics

Hardness, tensile strength, yield strength, extension, necking and

resilience are the mechanical characteristics to check.
The characteristics obtained from the tests and analyzes shall be in
accordance with the specified in the standards indicated in paragraph

2 of this specification. This refers to the material and manufactured

process of the fixation elements and joints. In the case that the
process or the material does not adjust to the specifications indicated
in the standards, paragraph 2, the manufacturer shall provide and
justify, previously, the mechanical characteristics that apply.
4.6

Chemical and Metallographic Characteristics

The chemical composition of the materials shall be in accordance with

the specifications in the standards indicated in paragraph 2. The
manufacturer shall provide and justify, previously, the use of a
material whose chemical composition is not indicated in these
standards.
To verify the structural characteristics of metal or alloy, the
metallographic state of the material must correspond to the specified
process for each piece.
4.7

Electrical Characteristics

The pieces will present design and manufacturing characteristics that

prevent the emission of effluents and radioelectrical interferences
above the settled limits.
4.8 Marks
All accessories will have the following information, and it will be
marked with indelible characters and easily legible:

5.

silicon.
Unless other specifications, the sliding load wont be less than 20% of
the breaking load of the phase conductor which is bounded for the
clamps. The pressure on the phase conductor must be uniform,
avoiding concentrated efforts on certain points.
The manufacturer shall indicate the tightening torques to be applied,
the maximum angle of use, and the limits of composition and
diameter of the overhead ground wire.
The use of counterweights will not have influence in the clamps
mobility.
The dimensions of the aluminum clamps will be the suitables to be
installed with conductor of the sections specified. These are provided
by premolded armour rod.
5.2

Compression clamps

It will be manufactured of:

It will be of aluminum alloy. It comes from ingots of first fusion
which is resistence to corrosion; these are aluminummagnesium, aluminum silicon, aluminum magnesium
silicon.
The manufacturer shall indicate the thigthening torques to be applied.
The specified sliding or breaking load wont be less than 90% of the
nominal breaking load of the conductor.
The manufacturer will have to specify the limits of the diameters and

The armour rod will be of aluminum alloy, of premolded type, suitable

for Aluminum Alloy Conductor Reinforced, ACAR type.
It will have the purpose of protecting the point of fastening of the
conductor with the insulator suspension of the abrasive effects and
discharges that may occur between conductor and earth.
The rods of the same set cant differ between each other in a
length greater than + - 5 mm.
The relation between the inside diameter of the helical rod
and the outer diameter of the lower conductor will be at most
0.95.
The lower limit of this relation is given by the practicality of
manual assembly.
The difference between the diameters of the propellers of the
different rods of the same set will not exceed + - 2% of the
nominal diameter of the conductor.
The manufacturer will indicate the number of rods per set suitable for
each conductor.
It will be simple and it will have suitable lengths for each section of
conductor.
5.4

Compression Joint

The metals or alloys in the composition of the joints should be stable

in the time by its nature or by its manufactured process.
Its design is based on the following principles:
Electrical: Ensure a satisfactory distribution of the current in
the conductors. The electrical resistance of the assembly shall
not exceed 75% of the conductors length. It cant produce
heatings above of the conductors and it cant emit
emanations or electrical disruption beyond the settled values.
Mechanical: The loads of breaking or sliding have to be
specified in relation with the nominal breaking load of the
conductor or overhead ground wire. It has to be equal to the
values specified in the table of guaranteed technical data. It
has to withstand in service, the corrosion phenomena and
heating. It has to avoid its loosening in service. Their
characteristics will not be affected by the vibrations or
oscillations of the conductor and also by the variations of
mechanical tension.

Grease

The supply of joint and repair compression will include the special
grease that it will be used for the contact surfaces.
The grease will be an inert chemical substance (it must not attack to
the conductors) of high electrical efficiency and inhibitor against the
corrosion. Also, the use of the grease must not obstruct the
performance of electrical resistance requirements or others specified
in this specification.
Preferably, it should be supplied in cartridges including all the
necessary accessories for the proper use of them.

6.

6.1

Type Test

The accessories, subject of this specification, shall successfully

comply the Type Tests. Certificates of Type Tests that demonstrate
that the fixation elements and joints have successfully passed these
tests will be accepted. This happens only if the design of such
