Editing Crew- Tripping over bags

and chairs that are left out in the
classroom could result in bruises,
burns or possibly even a serious
injury
Editing Crew- Reading, writing or
doing computer work for too long
could result in sore or irritated
eyes, difficulty focusing, dry or
watery eyes, blurred or double
vision, increased sensitivity to light
and headache or brow-ache
Editing Crew- Spilling any drinks if
anyone has one could result in
electrocution, electric equipment
possibly exploding, fire hazard etc
Editing Crew- With wires there is a
possibility of it being a trip hazard,
risk of being electrocuted
Editing Crew- If on a computer for
too long it will overheat and could
possibly result in a part of the
computer exploding, the whole
computer exploding, shut down
entirely as well as melt cables

Tuck both chairs and bags under

tables
If using computer regularly clean
off dust and fingerprints from the
screen. Smudges on the screen
can reduce contrast and increase
problems with glare and
reflections
Most drinks are not allowed in
rooms with electric equipment.
Make sure wires arent tangled up
or securely taped down, never
bring any drinks as if spilled on
wires or power plugs could result
in electrocution, injuries and
possibly damage to equipment as
well as deaths
Taking breaks will help cool the
computer down on a regular basis
as well as giving the editing crew
some free time. Computers
should have fans to help keep the
computer cool

Stack all chairs in one corner of

the room
If using computer, choose
computers with screens that tilt
and swivel if they can. Change
lightning to reduce glare and
harsh reflections, also, avoid
lightning directly behind or above
a computer screen. Use an
adjustable chair. Take regular
breaks
If anyone do have drinks make
sure they are on the table and
they drink away from any
electricity and make sure drinks
are in bottles preferably squeeze
bottles
The wires you are not using must
be put away
Make sure the computer you are
using has been checked for
health and safety as well as fire
hazards

1. List hazards something with the potential to cause harm here:

Seek to quantify the level of risk the likelihood of harm arising based on the number of persons affected, how often they are exposed to the hazard and the
severity of any consequence.
2. List groups of people who are especially at risk from the significant hazards which you have identified
3. List existing controls here or note where the information may be found

4. List the risks which are not adequately controlled and the action you will take. Have regard for the level of risk, the cost of any action and the benefit you expect to
gain.

RISK RATING
a SEVERITY

b LIKELIHOOD

c FINAL SCORE RATING: what needs to be done

Dying or being permanently disabled

Will almost certainly happen

Serious injury/long term illness

Highly likely to happen

Temporary disability/3 days off sick

Not so likely

Will need medical attention

Even less likely

Minor injury eg. Bruise, graze

Unlikely to happen at all

16-25 Stop! Do not start activity again until risk is

controlled
10-15 High risk level, High priority. Take action
straight away to control the risk
6-9
Medium risk level. Tighten up controls and
make a plan to do something about risk
3-5
Fairly low risk level. Low priority but keep
possible action in mind
1-2
Low or trivial risk. No further action
required.
