-Audrey Hepburn
Objective
Learn basic photography skills.
Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate
the colors into the layout.
Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.
Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate layers
for NDE (non-destructive editing.)
Size and crop the image, then place on an 8.511 page layout.
Use layers to design text, and repeating graphic elements in Photoshop.
Process
I thought of layouts and ideas before going out and taking the picture. I used a
Canon Rebel to take the picture. To take the picture I set up two black boards
and put the objects on them, then used flashlights to light the objects. I then
used Photoshop to change the lipstick color to be more red and less pink. Then
I put the image into InDesign and added the text.

Date
Objective
Use the FOCUS design process with strong focal point and flow
Unify a layout with a consistent theme and dominant spiritual message
Learn to blend two or more images together gradually, using masks
Demonstrate more advanced skills for layout with multiple elements
Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image
Apply typography principles (titles, quotes, events or scripturesyour choice)
Format type: Legibility; Small copy & Title with varying text size.)
Select good quality images
Process
First I brainstormed some ideas and sketched them out. Then I created the
project using Adobe Photoshop. I first placed the picture of the girl, then
I placed the picture of Christ. I added a mask to the picture of Christ and
blended the image into the other image. Then I made a Gaussian Blur for the
background of the picture of the girl, and I used the brush tool to make sure
that she was in focus. Then I added the text to finish off the project.

Brochure
Description
A folding brochure used to promote an event or an idea.
Programs Used
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe InDesign
Adobe Illustrator
Date
Objective
Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.
Create an original, new logo and use it in a brochure.
Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at least four quality images, not
including the logo. One should be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in
InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape of the image.
Write at least 250 words of original copy in at least three paragraphs, headers,
and subheaders.
Trim for a full bleed and print in duplex (two-sided) color.
Process
The first thing I did was sketch out a couple of ideas. Then I created the logo,
using Adobe Illustrator, and came up with the color scheme. Then I measured
out where the folds would be and inserted that into Adobe InDesign. Then I
added pictures and the design elements that I used. First I made the design
without text in it, using filler text instead. Then I created the body copy and
put that into the project. I was able to achieve the text wrapping effect by
cutting out the object using Adobe Photoshop and applying the text wrap to
the text around the object.
Business Card
Description
Business card and stationery created using a personally created logo.
Programs Used
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe InDesign
Date
Objective
Use the basic tools in Illustrator & InDesign.
Create a new logo to fit a company or personal image. Do not imitate existing
logos or use previous designs. Dont use photos or live trace.
Use the new logo to design consistent layouts for a business card and
letterhead. Photos are okay on business card and letterhead as additional design
elements. Letterhead should be 8.5 x 11, full-bleed optional, but trim only .125.
Business card should be 3.5 x 2 and printed above center on a vertical page.
Apply typography rules, keeping small copy.
Process
First I drew out sketches for ideas that I had. Then I created the logo using
Adobe Illustrator. I created it using shapes and lines as well as the path finder
tool. I created the swirl shape then used the rotator tool to create lines
throughout the middle. I then combined all of the objects and it left me with
all the white keys. I then went through and placed all of the black keys. Then I
placed the logo in and created the rest of the design.

First I sketched out some ideas, then created 3 of them on Adobe Illustrator.
Then I had people vote on which logo they liked the most. I created the
blocks by using the rounded rectangle tool and the pen tool. The flower I
created using the polygon tool, then I added a bulge effect to make it look
like a flower. I then added a scribble effect to make it look like the flower was
drawn.

Date
Objective
Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and inches work together)
Find, scan and import a high-quality image.
Create a full-bleed design.
Choose a color scheme and typeface that work for the message and audience.
Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs,
including Photoshop.
Process
First I sketched out a couple ideas for design layouts. Then I looked for an
image that would fit my sketches. Then I scanned in the image and created
the layout on Microsoft Word. I did that by creating boxes and changing the
fill color.

Objective
Acquire a working knowledge of HTML. (Include all required tags Doctype
(provided), html, head, title, meta charset (provided), body, h1, h2, p, ol or ul (with li
tags), img, br, and a link to blog)
Acquire a working knowledge of CSS. (Customize the provided CSS provided
to format the HTML to complement the logo design. Change at least the following:
The h1 text color & h1 background color, font colors for the paragraphs & list
items, the background color, font families and add at least one css comment.)
Identify hex colors to match logo, using Photoshop color picker.
Process
I created this web page only using Text Wrangler. I took an Internet Publishing
class in high school where we did some work with html and css, so it was fun
to refresh my skills during this project. First I did the basic html coding. Then
I attached a css file and added my own content to it. I knew I had an idea on
what my webpage would look like, I just needed to figure out how to do it. I
used http://www.w3schools.com a lot during this process, to remember how
to do a lot of things.
Flier
Description
Black and white flier designed to inform graduates about a conference.
Programs Used
Adobe InDesign
Date
Objective
Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.
Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.
Retrieve image and logo from links on this page.
Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links
in InDesign intact.
Process
I started this process by creating sketches of ideas that I had for the layout.
Then I actually created all of them using Adobe InDesign, and from there
chose my favorite layout. I liked this layout because of the white space that
was implemented throughout the design, making the layout organized and
simple.
