Mechanical Engineering resources man from the advent of old civilization,

forming the strong foundation of all the engineering development. Mechanical
engineers design and develop everything you think of as a machine - from
supersonic fighter jets to bicycles to stitching needle. With flying wings in
continuing the drift, at JIET Universe, the branch traces its origin since 2003. We
have waved off a proud goodbye to our four batches; all the eligible students
have raised our head with gratification. We have an association of the
department, MEJA with a vision and mission of development of students coming
in our stream.
Mechanical Engineering JIET Association aims to maintain the high level of
interaction and understanding between the students and the faculty members.
Apart from this, it organizes technical sessions, workshops and contests
through a close tie-up with the industry in town and as well as in state of
Rajasthan. It also assists time to time in managing the resources and labs of the
department.

STATIC ELECTRICITY - CAR
FIRE HAZARD
Static electricity is the result of
charges being held upon by bodies
and discharged intermittently
.These charges are generated by
friction between certain materials. A
body electrically charged is one
with a potential above or below the
normal zero potential
In case of vehicle's accumulated
static charges have resulted in
disastrous accidents most probably
at petrol filling stations. Actually
what happens is the vapour that
comes from petrol burns and
causes the fire when it comes in
contact with static charge i.e spark.
So some steps which should be
taken to overcome the problems
are:1. Try to avoid mobile phones,
rubber soled footwear and
synthetic fibre clothes while in
car.
2. Technically nozzle of the petrol
injector should be in contact
with the car body before the
petrol is pumped into the car.
3. Nobody should get in or out the
vehicle while the petrol is
injected as on doing this static
charges are induced.
4. Close the doors of the car while
coming out of the vehicle, on
doing these static charges get
discharged.

TECHNICAL FEATURES OF
GREEN ENGINE

Compared to conventional piston

engines, operated on four phases,
the Green engine is an actual six
phase internal combustion engine
with much higher expansion ratio.
Thus it has six independent or
separate working processes:
intake, compression, mixing,
combustion, power and exhaust,
resulting in the high air charge rate.
Satisfactory air-fuel mixing,
complete burning, high combustion
efficiency and full expansion. The
most important characteristic is the
expansion ratio being much bigger
than the compression ratio. Also,
the other main features are the
revolutionary innovations of the
sequential variable compression

ratio, constant volume combustion

and self-adapting sealing system.
Therefore, an engine having
extremely high thermal efficiency,
near-zero emissions, quietness,
light and small, lower cost with
capability of burning of various fuels
has come into being.
Direct Air Intake
Direct air intake means that
there is no air inlet pipe, throttle and
inlet valves on the air intake system.
Air filter is directly connected to the
intake port of the engine, and
together with the less heating effect
of air intake process, benefitted from
lower temperature of independent
i n t a k e c h a m b e r, a h i g h e s t
volumetric efficiency which makes
engine produce a high torque of
output on all speed range is
achieved . The pump loss which
consumes the part of engine power
is eliminated .Also fuel measuring
facilities are built-in,and parts are
saved.
Strong Swirling
As a tangential air duct in
between combustion chamber &
compression chamber, a very
swirling which could lost until gas
port is opened, can be formed while
air is pumped into the combustion
chamber. The air-fuel mixing and the
combustion process can have a
satisfying working condition.

Direct Fuel Injection

Direct fuel injection can provide
higher output and torque, while at
the same time it also enhances the
response for acceleration.
Super Air-Fuel Mixing
Since the independent air-fuel
mixing phase is having enough time
for mixing air and fuel under strong
swirling and hot situation, the
engine is capable to burn any liquid
or gas fuels without modifications.
An ideal air-fuel mixture could
delete CO emission. Also
centrifugal effect coming from both
strong swirling and rotation of the
burner makes the air-fuel mixture
denser near the spark plug. It
benefits to cold starting and
managing lean-burning.
Lowest Surface to Volume Ratio
The shape of combustion chamber
herein can be designed as global as
possible. Thus, a lowest surface to
is obtained, and the engine is
having less heat losses and high
combustion efficiency.
Controllable Combustion Time
Due to the independent combustion phase, compared to the
con-ventional engine whose performances lack of efficient combustion time, resulting in heavy CO
emission and low fuel usage rate,
the Green engine has a sufficient
controllable combustion time to
match any fuels.
Multi-Power Pulses
The green engine operates on
multi-power pulses with a small
volume of working chamber
contrasted to the conventional
engine dose on the single power

pulse with a large working chamber.

Obviously, a small volume of
chamber only needs little space,
resulting in compact structure and
limited size. Also, a
small amount of air-fuel mixtures
being ignited on each power pulse
can greatly cut down explosion
noise.
Vibration Free
As major moving parts, vanes
which are counted in little mass and
operated symmetrically, the
performance of the engine is very
smooth. Hence, vibrations are
eliminated.
High Working Temperature
Because the burner, which is made
of high heat resistance and low
expansion rate material, such as
ceramic, operates without cooling,
a relatively high working
temperature can eliminate the
quenching zone which is the main
source of emission and can greatly
reduce the heat losses in the
combustion chamber.

The recent scams involving

unimaginably big amounts of
money, such as the 2G spectrum
scam, are well known. It is
estimated that more than trillion
dollars are stashed away in foreign
havens, while 80% of Indians earn
less than 2$ per day and every
second child is malnourished. It
seems as if only the honest people
are poor in India and want to get rid
of their poverty by education,
emigration to cities, and
immigration, whereas all the
corrupt ones, like Hasan Ali Khan
are getting rich through scams and
crime. The organisers of Dandi
March II in the United States saidIt
seems as if India is a rich country
filled with poor people", .The
Comptroller and Auditor General
of India said, As on March 31,
2010, unutilized committed
external assistance was of the
order of Rs.1,05,339 crore.

CORRUPTION IN INDIA
India tops the list for black money in
the entire world with almost
US$1456 billion in Swiss banks
(approximately USD 1.4 trillion) in
the form of black money. According
to the data provided by the Swiss
Banking Association Report (2006),
India has more black money than
the rest of the world combined.
Indian-owned Swiss bank account
assets are worth 13 times the
country's national debt.

Zero Liquid Discharge

The Zero Liquid Discharge Sewage Elimination

System (ZLD). The device uses engine heat to
oxidize and evaporate toilet, shower and galley
waste.
A typical combustion engine makes use of only 30
to 35 percent of the energy contained in fuel; the rest
escapes as heat through the radiator or the exhaust. The
microwave-oven-size ZLD puts that exhaust heat to work.
When a passenger flushes a boat's toilet or drains the
waste-containment tank, the wastewater runs through a
pipe to the ZLD, which can be installed anywhere in the
craft. First the waste enters the machine's equalization
tank, which grinds it into pieces a quarter of an inch or
smaller in diameter. Next it moves to the homogenizer, a
container with three sets of blades that dissolve solids
into 0.002-inch-diameter particles. Then an injector
pump pressurizes the waste stream and sprays it through
a nozzle into the engine's exhaust system as a fine
aerosol.
The exhaust of an idling engine is at least 550F, which is
hot enough to flash evaporate the waste and thermally
oxidize the organic materials. Quite simply, the device
can break down anything organic that's put into it. The
process eliminates all odors. the main byproducts are carbon dioxide and clean water vapor.
How It Works: Zero Liquid Discharge: Waste flows from
the boat's toilet to an equalization tank, which breaks it
into small pieces. The material next moves into the
homogenizer, a container where it gets chopped into
particles. The injector pump pressurizes the material and
sprays it through a nozzle into the engine's exhaust
system, where the heat cleans it. Nassef built a ZLD
prototype in 2004 from washing-machine parts and a
five-gallon paint bucket. The current version, his 11th
MECHLITE | Issue 1 - 2011

update, uses only as

much energy as ten 100watt light bulbs,
sterilizes waste without
any of the harsh
chemicals of other
portable toilet-wastedisposal systems, and
can be scaled up or
down. In 2007 it earned
a certificate of approval
from the U.S. Coast Guard for marine sanitation devices.
