General
The equipment domain deals with the management of the NE as a whole and its physical
components (subrack, boards,..).
The main screen of the Equipment tab panel differs according to the configuration.
The equipment consists of one MSS and several MPTs according to the configuration.
In the Resource List Area is shown a graphical representation of the Equipment.
The MSS consists of different boards according to the configuration.
A colored round icon gives information on the status of the associated object (Equipment, ODU,
MSS, MSS board). The color differs according to the severity of the alarms:
Green: no alarm

Board level
To enter a board double click on the board image in the Resource Detail Area.
Radio level
To enter the Radio level click on the radio object in the Resource Tree Area or double click on
the radio image in the Resource Detail Area.
Double clicking on the icon opens the main view. Single clicking on the resource tree highlights
the radio icon and updates the resource detail area for the selected entity.
Different types of radio are available, as shown in the following figure. Note: the scroll bar in the
figure is condensed.

The ODU300 is identified by a number indicating the slot number in the MSS, where the Modem
unit is installed.
The MPT-HC, MPT-HQAM, or MPT-MC is identified by two digits:
the first digit indicating the slot number in the MSS, where the MPT Access unit (from 3
to 8), P8ETH unit (from 3 to 8), EASv2 unit (from 3 to 8), or Core-E unit (1) managing
the radio is installed,
the second digit indicating the enabled Ethernet port in the unit (from 1 to 8).
Note: the top or bottom subrack is only displayed if the subrack has been configured.
Radios involved in a Radio LAG are identified by letter L as shown in the following figure.
Note: the scroll bar in the figure is condensed.
MPT-HLS radios equipped with a diversity combiner for the receiver diversity and XPIC
configuration are identified by the symbol shown in the following figure.

Remote Inventory
Note: the MSS-1 does not have a Remote Inventory tab-panel. To open the Remote Inventory
screen on the MSS-1, choose Diagnosis>Remote Inventory.
Alarms tab-panel
The Alarms tab panel provides the fault management, which checks the current state of alarms
related to the selected object.
The alarm tab panel has one row for each possible alarm, but only rows related to the active
alarms are highlighted. When the alarm disappears it is automatically cleared in the screen.
By putting a tick in the Include alarms from sub-nodes box the alarms currently active in the
sub-nodes of the object will also appear.
For every alarm the following information is given:
Severity: the severity associated to the alarm and assigned in the Alarm Profile
Settings tab-panel
In the Settings tab-panel the following fields are present:
1. Equipment Type
2. Alarm Profile
3. Protection Type Configuration
4. Protection Type Configuration with MPT Access unit
5. Protection Type Configuration with STM-1 units
6. Protection Type Configuration with MPT-HLS units

1) Equipment Type
This field lists all the units that can be installed in a specific slot.
If the user selects the expected equipment type equal to received one, the Apply button is
enabled.
If the user selects an expected equipment type different from received expected equipment type,
the Apply button is disabled.
If the user applies a new expected equipment type, the panel is reloaded and updated.
If protection type is 1+1, the Apply button, related to expected equipment, is disabled (Expected
equipment change is allowed in "No protection" configuration only).

To configure an MPT-HLS, you need to configure the subrack. Click on the NE at the top level
of the Resource Tree Area to select the equipment type. Choose MPT-HLS for the correct
subrack and click on Apply.
Click on one of the vertical slots in the subrack. The Settings panel for the subrack is available.
The horizontal fan slot, above the radio slots, is outlined in red. Click on the fan slot. In the
settings panel, choose SR-FAN4 or SR-FAN8 from the Equipment Type drop-down and click
Apply. Choose one of the MPT-HLS channels from the Fan Handler MPTs drop-down and click
Apply.
2) Alarm Profile
This function relates to an alarm severity profile to be assigned to a selected object (implemented
in MSS object, in Local TMN Ethernet interface and in the Radio object).
If it is configured as MD300, allowed protection types are 1+1 HSB and 1+1 FD.
If the operator selects a protection type equal to received one, the Apply button is disabled. If the
operator selects a protection type different from received one, Apply button is enabled. If slot is
in protection mode (protection type different from No protection): the Apply button related to
the expected-equipment is disabled (equipment changing is allowed in No protection
configuration only).
Protection Example
Configuring a 1+1 protected board, if peer board is not configured, the CT will be in charge of
applying such configuration to un-configured peer board, before creating protection in MIB.
If the user applies a new expected protection type, both tree view and configuration panel are
reloaded and updated. With a configured 1+1 protection, involved slots are bounded by light
green lines (see the example).
To configure the protection scheme select an MPT as shown in the figure. (In the example MPTHQAM#11: connected to Port#1 of the Core-E unit in Slot#1).
Protection configuration
To configure the protection scheme select an MPT as shown in the following figure. (In the
example MPT-HLS#15: connected to Port#5 of the Core-E unit in Slot#1).
Choose 1+1 HSB/SD from the Protection Type drop-down menu. To enable Rx diversity with the
diversity combiner, select the SD check box.
Click on the Apply button.
8) Unit stacking
Two MPT-Access units, two P8ETH units, or two EASv2 units installed on the same row are
automatically grouped in a stacking configuration. The stacking configuration is highlighted by
the violet color as shown in the following figure (units in slots #5 and #6).
