2) Alarm Profile
This function relates to an alarm severity profile to be assigned to a selected object (implemented
in MSS object, in Local TMN Ethernet interface and in the Radio object).

3) Protection Type Configuration

This function allows the operator to configure the NE protection type. This function is shown
when you select slots 4, 6, or 8 for equipment protection, or when you select an MPT
provisioned on the protect slot.
Note: For slots 1 and 2 (reserved to Main and Spare Core boards), protection type is configured
by the system, according to equipped Core board.
After the equipment selection, protection type list box is filled with the allowed protection types
list whose content depends on expected equipment configured:

if it is configured as P32E1DS1/P32E3DS3, the allowed protection type is 1+1 EPS;

if it is configured as MD300, the allowed protection types are 1+1 HSB and 1+1 FD.

if it is configured as SDHACC, the allowed protection type is 1+1 EPS. The SDHACC
cards must be equipped the same way with SFPs, for example, SFP #1 is set to SFP-O on
both cards.

If the operator selects a protection type equal to received one, the Apply button is disabled. If the
operator selects a protection type different from received one, Apply button is enabled. If slot is
in protection mode (protection type different from No protection): the Apply button related to
the expected equipment is disabled (equipment changing is allowed in No protection
configuration only).

Protection Example
Configuring a 1+1 protected board, if peer board is not configured, the CT will be in charge of
applying such configuration to un-configured peer board, before creating protection in MIB.
If the user applies a new expected protection type, both tree view and configuration panel are
reloaded and updated. With a configured 1+1 protection, involved slots are bounded by light
green lines (see the example).

4) Protection Type Configuration with MPT Access unit

To configure the protection scheme select an MPT as shown in the figure. (In the example MPTHQAM#71: connected to Port#1 of the MPT Access unit in Slot#7).

How to configure the protection

Choose in the Protect Port field one of the ports available in the list. The protection port can be
connected to an MPT connected to the same MPT Access unit or an MPT connected to an MPT
Access unit on the same row.
Choose the suitable Protection Type (1+1 FD or 1+1 HSB) and click on Apply.
When protection has been configured, the two MPTs will appear joined in the Resource List
Area, as shown in the following figure.
