Timun Mas

Long time ago, lived a couple of farmers . They lived in a village near the forest. Every day,
they prayed to God would give them a child. One night, when they were praying, a giant passed their
house and heard their pray. I can give you a child on one condition, the giant said to them, You
must give the child back to me when it is six years old. they was so happy; she did not think about the
risk of losing the child later and agreed to take the giants offer. The giant then gave them a bunch of
cucumber seeds. Plant it around your house. The giant
then left without saying anything else. In the morning, they
planted the seeds. The seeds grew within mere days, and
blossomed plentifully.Not longer after that, a big golden
cucumber grew from plants. Carefully, they plucked the
golden cucumber and carried it home. With caution and
care, they sliced the cucumber. they was very surprised to
see a beautiful baby girl inside the cucumber. they then
named the baby Timun Emas.
Years passed by and Timun Emas has grew to become a lovely and beautiful little girl. She was
also smart and kind. A couple of farmers loved her very much. But they kept thinking about the time
the giant would take Timun Emas away from her. One night, they had a dream. In order to save Timun
Emas from the giant, they had to meet the holy man who lived in Mount Gundul. The next morning,
they took leave of Timun Emas to go to Mount Gundul. The holy man then gave them four little bags,
each one containing cucumber seeds, needles, salt, and shrimp paste. Timun Emas can use these to
protect herself, said the holy man to a couple of farmers.
A few days later, the giant came to see a couple of farmers about their promise. Where is
Timun Emas? shouted the giant. My daughter, take these bag with you. It can save you from the
giant. Now, run through the back door, said farmer. But the giant saw Timun Emas running to the
woods. The giant was angry. Starved and enraged, he rushed toward Timun Emas. Farmers tried to
stop him, but the giant was unstoppable.
The giant was getting closer and closer, so Timun Emas opened the first bag she got from a
couple of farmers. Inside the bag were cucumber seeds. She threw the seeds, and instantly they grew
into large cucumber field. But the giant ate them all, giving him more strength. As the giant was
getting close, Timun Emas took the second bag with needles inside and spilled the content behind her.
The needles turned into bamboo trees, sharp and thorny. The giants body was scratched and bled.
Aaargh, Ill get you, Timun Emas! shouted the giant as he tried to get himself out from the bamboo
field. He made it and still chasing Timun Emas.
Timun Emas then reached the third bag and spilled the salt
inside. The ground which the salt touched turned into a deep sea. The
giant almost drown and had to swim to cross the sea. After some time,
he managed to get out from the water. Timun Emas saw the giant
coming, so she reached for the last bag. She took the shrimp paste and
threw it. The shrimp paste became a big swamp of boiling mud. The
giant was trapped in the middle of the swamp. The mud slowly but
surely drowned him. Helpless, he roared out, Help! Heeeeelp!
Then the giant drown and died. Timun Mas then immediately went
home. Since then, Timun Emas and farmerslive happily ever after.

Pada zaman dahulu kala , tinggal seorang wanita tua bernama Mbok Sirni . Dia tinggal
sendirian karena suaminya sudah lama meninggal dan dia tidak punya anak . Setiap hari , dia berdoa
agar Tuhan akan memberinya seorang anak . Suatu malam , ketika ia sedang berdoa , raksasa melewati
rumahnya dan mendengar doa nya . " Aku bisa memberimu seorang anak dengan satu syarat , " kata
raksasa kepada Mbok Sirni , " Anda harus memberikan anak kembali ke saya ketika berusia enam
tahun . " Mbok Sirni sangat senang , dia tidak berpikir tentang risiko kehilangan anak kemudian dan
setuju untuk mengambil tawaran raksasa . Raksasa itu kemudian memberinya sekelompok biji

mentimun . Dia sangat terkejut melihat seorang bayi perempuan cantik di dalam mentimun . Dia
kemudian bernama bayi Timun Emas.
Beberapa tahun pun berlalu dan Timun Emas telah tumbuh menjadi seorang gadis kecil yang
lucu dan cantik. Dia juga cerdas dan baik. Mbok Sirni sangat mencintainya. Tapi dia terus berpikir
tentang waktu raksasa akan mengambil Timun Emas darinya. Suatu malam, Mbok Sirni bermimpi.
Untuk mengamankan Timun Emas dari raksasa, dia harus bertemu orang suci yang tinggal di Gunung
Gundul. Keesokan paginya, Mbok Sirni meninggalkan Timun Emas untuk pergi ke Gunung Gundul.
Orang suci kemudian memberinya empat kantong kecil, masing-masing berisi biji mentimun, jarum,
garam, dan terasi. "Timun Emas dapat menggunakan ini untuk melindungi dirinya sendiri," kata pria
suci itu kepada Mbok Sirni.
Beberapa hari kemudian, raksasa datang untuk menemui dan menagih Mbok Sirni tentang
janjinya. "Mbok Sirni! Dimana Timun Emas? "Teriak raksasa. "Putriku, bawalah tas ini bersamamu.
ini dapat menyelamatkan kamu dari raksasa. Sekarang, larilah melalui pintu belakang, "kata Mbok
Sirni. Tapi raksasa melihat Timun Emas berlari ke hutan. Raksasa marah. Kelaparan dan marah, ia
bergegas menuju Timun Emas. Mbok Sirni mencoba untuk menghentikannya, tetapi raksasa itu tak
terbendung.
Raksasa itu semakin dekat dan lebih dekat, sehingga Timun Emas membuka tas pertama yang
dia dapatkan dari Mbok Sirni. Di dalam tas adalah biji mentimun. Dia melemparkan benih, dan
langsung mereka tumbuh menjadi kebun mentimun besar. Tapi raksasa makan mereka (mentimun)
semua, memberinya kekuatan lebih. Dan raksasa itu semakin dekat, Timun Emas mengambil kantong
kedua dengan berisi jarum di dalamnya dan menumpahkan jarum tersebut di belakangnya. Jarum
berubah menjadi pohon bambu, tajam dan berduri. Tubuh raksasa tergores dan berdarah. "Aaargh, aku
akan menangkap Kamu, Timun Emas!" Teriak raksasa saat ia mencoba untuk membuat dirinya keluar
dari kebun bambu. Dia berhasil dan masih mengejar Timun Emas.Timun Emas kemudian mencapai tas
ketiga dan menumpahkan garam yang berada di dalamnya. Garam yang menyentuh tanah berubah
menjadi laut dalam. Raksasa itu hampir tenggelam dan harus berenang untuk menyeberangi laut.
Setelah beberapa waktu, dia berhasil keluar dari air. Timun Emas melihat raksasa datang, jadi dia
meraih tas terakhir. Dia mengambil terasi dan melemparkannya. Terasi tersebut menjadi rawa besar
dengan lumpur mendidih. Raksasa terjebak di tengah-tengah rawa. Lumpur memang lambat tapi pasti
akan menenggelamkannya. Tak berdaya, ia meraung keluar, "Tolong! toooolooong ...! "Kemudian
raksasa tersebut tenggelam dan mati disana. Timun Mas kemudian segera pulang ke rumah. Sejak itu,
Timun Emas Mbok Sirni dan hidup bahagia selamanya.
