IpurchasedVideoStudiox8aboutaweekagoandhavebeenhavingablastlearningitandexploringallofthe
greatcontentthatcamewithit.WhileImightdoa"FirstImpressions/Review"articleontheprogram,andmaybe
evensomeTutorialseventually,fornowIwanttofocusonthiserror/problemwiththeScreenCapmodule,
especiallysinceexperiencingitmyselfandthenseeingitintheCorelUserForums,findingoutthatitisinfact

HerearethestepsItook,thatsolvedtheproblemwith'noaudio'whenrecordingwiththeScreenCaputility,
causingittocrash(anddisplaytheerrormessageshownabove):

differingdevice(eg.asoundcard),thenmerelyfollowthestepsreplacingthatdevicewiththeonesmentionedbelow.Aswell,Itook

IntheRecordingTaboftheSoundpanel/windowthatcomesup,let'smakesureyoucansee
DisabledandHiddendevicesinthelist.Todothis,rightclicksomewhereinthewhiteinnerarea(but
notonadeviceinthelist)andapopupmenushouldappear,saying"ShowDisabledDevices"and
"ShowDisconnectedDevices".
Ifthesedonothaveacheckmarkbesidethem,clickoneachofthemoneatatime,toenablethese
options.Now,youshouldseealltherecordingdevicescurrentlyattachedtoyoursystem.Somewill
be'greyedout'iftheyarenotpluggedinornothingispluggedintothem.

StartupCorel'sScreenCaputilitybydoubleclickingtheiconontheDesktopforit,ornavigatingtothe
TileorShortcutintheStartMenu,tolaunchit.
[Inmycase,Ihadanicononmydesktopthatsaid"CorelScreenCapx8"andIusedthat]
Onceitopens,clickontheword"Settings"nearthebottomofthepanel,toopenupthe
options/settingsforScreenCapture.
IntheAudioSettingscategory/area,clickontheCirclenextto"SystemAudio"toDisableScreen
Capturefromattemptingtorecordfromthere
[thisseemscounterintuitive,butthisiswhatItestedinTroubleshootinganddoingthis'workaround'
allowedmeto'fix'theproblemandgetitworkingitseemsmoreofa'workaround'withgettingthe
programtowork,thanatrue'fix'however,butthisiswhatcanbedone,fornow].

Justabovethe"SystemAudio",clickonthe"I"nextto"Voice"toEnablerecordingfromthatinput
[thisseemscounterintuitiveagain,aswearenotgoingtouseamicrophoneinthisexample,butthis
isthesecondpartofthe'workaround'togetScreenCapturetorecordaudio,fornow].

Now,wewilltellScreenCapturetouseadifferentdeviceforrecordingsound(asinput).
Clickonthe"SoundCheck"button,nexttothe"Voice"setting.
ThiswillopenuptheSoundCheckwindow/panel.
Nexttothe"InputDevice"setting,clickonthepulldownmenuandyourdevicethatweenabled
earliershouldshowupinthelist,as"StereoMix".
