Lesson Plan

Group: Beginners 3
1. Goals of the 4 hour-session: To make students experience friendship
and union through messages made by themselves, as well as practicing
analysis of situations that ss migh experiment in any moment.
2. Materials for the session: CD from the Read and think! Book, Read and
Think! Book, materials brought by the ss.
3. Procedure:
Warm up:
Objective: To make ss memory get in practice with easy commands. Each time
the teacher will have to say a command; to each one of the commands tyhere
will be a number, thus students will have to memorize them and be
concentrate on that.
Materials and equipment: Ss parts of the body :P.
Time: 10 minutes approximately
Task 1: To practice the general idea of a text read
Objective: To make ss remeber general ideas of a text seen through practice
activities such as puzzles and short discussions.
Materials and equipment: The Read and Think! book.
Time: 30-40minutes
Step /stage 1: Students will be asked to draw a hero with the characteristics
said in the last class text. They will have 5 minutes to draw their hero. One
student will be chosen at random, and he/she will have to give 1 characteristic
to the hero drawn. Two or 3 students will be chosen as well to say a different
characteristic about that.
Step 2/ stage 2: Ss will be asked to read the fragment of a text on page 35, and
they will have to make the general idea of the text in 2 or three connected and
logical sentences. Some ideas given by students will be written on the board,
and the most logical proposed idea will be awarded with points.

Step/stage 3: Ss will be asked to fill in the crossword on page 35. the first one
to finish wins. This will also be apllied to the choosing exercise on page 36,
which is also related to the text.
** There will be a Break activity of about 10- 13 minutes, in which the
teacher will make some movements, saying some parts of the body,
however, the students will have to observe carefully the teacher and
imitate her. Sometimes the part of the body said will not be the
correct one, thus, sometimes they will be changed and students will
have to pay attention and touch the part changed by the teacher.
Task 2: To think about different opinions about movies and their
directors (finding characteristics).
Objective: To make students mention and discuss positive features of some
movies, especially the ones they like the most.
Time: 48-60 minutes
Step /stage 1: Ss will be asked to think about their favorite movie. They will
think about the main characters, the important places where the story is
developed and iomportant facts of the movie. Some opinions will be written on
the board, and everybody will mention a movie. Votation will be made, and the
most popular movie among students will be chosen. After the movie is chosen,
they will mention the scene they liked the most, and they are going to say the
reason it is interesting.
Step 2/ stage 2: After students discussion, The teacher will mention some
movies directors, and students will have to say which is the one they know the
most or like his movies the most. When the most popular director is chosen,
the CD of the book will be played, and ss will have to listen to it twice. At the
third moment, students will have to repeat sentence by sentence after the CD.
Step/stage 3: Ss will have to mention words they understood from the
listening, and they will be written on the board. After the words are collected,
these will be divided in 3 groups. Ss will be divided in 3 groups as well; each
group will have to make 5 sentences with the words and 2 of them will be
represented in a way of a dramatization. Each one of the roleplays will lats
about 1 or 2 minutes.
Step/stage 4: The reading will be read aloud. Each student will have to read a
sentence of the reading, and the pronunciation correction will be made at the
end of the text, to which ss will have to repeat. Some unknown words will be
explained by the teacher. Ss wont use dictionary.
** There will be a break activity, in which students will form a circle,
and think about a movement. Each person will make a movement, and
each one of these movements will be added, thus, they will have to
memorize them, and the one that does not make the correct

movement, goes out, till one of the ss is left, considered the one with
the best memory.
Task 3: To aply what was understood through a variety of activities.
Objective: To analyse the text read through written activities.
Time: 48-60 minutes
Step /stage 1: After the text has been read aloud, ss will be asked to analyse
the text in a way of a chart, in which the students will include information such
as main characters, important facts and elements, characteristics of the main
character. After some of unkown words mentioned by students are explained
and exemplified, ss will be asked to summarize the general idea of the text.
They will have to make a paragraph with their own words. Each one of students
will have to read their paragraph aloud, so their partners will take notes of an
aspect that they did not take into account.
Step 2/ stage 2: Students will be in groups of 3 to 4 people, and will choose a
scene of a movie. They will have to roleplay the scene and their partners will
have to guess which is the movie they are representing.
