Candidates should be healthy and physically fit for sea service as per STCW 95/MS Medical rules
2000 and all its amendment as applicable to seafarers.

Candidates will have to undergo a full medical check-up through our Panel Doctor approved by

Successful candidates clearing the cut-offs in Online Test will be called by GE Shipping for Technical

Online Test will be scheduled for the candidate as and when the application is received
through the website.

Online Test Login details (Username & Password with the Test Link) will be communicated to

The Candidate has to take the test from his/her home or the nearest cyber cafe. You need to
have a basic laptop/personal computer with a web camera facility and smooth internet
connection.

Candidates who are doubtful about their vision/physical fitness can do their
medical (Medical Fees Rs.2100/-) with our following Company & DGS
approved Doctor before Online Test & Interview .

However, the selection will be strictly on clearing Online Test, Technical Interview & Medical
Clearance.

How to apply
Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria should apply by filling the Online Application Form. The
Application should be submitted in the format given in the website only, with one recent passport size
photograph pasted neatly in the right hand top corner.

A Demand Draft of Rs. 1500/- (Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred Only) drawn on a Mumbai branch of any
Nationalised Bank crossed A/c Payee Only and payable to The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd., Mumbai
must be enclosed with the Application Form. Any Application received without the Demand Draft or for
lesser amount will not be considered.

Applicant must write his name in CAPITALS & (ETO course) on the reverse of the Demand Draft.
Duly completed copy of Online Application Form along with the Demand Draft should be sent in a sealed
envelope superscripted as Application for ELECTRO TECHNICAL OFFICER to Mr. Arun More, Deputy

Duly completed Application should reach us not later than 1800 hours on 15th May 2016.

Communication regarding the Interview date and time will be conveyed to the applicants
by email only after successful completion of the Online Test by the candidate.
Candidates must ensure they provide their correct email-id and phone number/mobile
number in the online application form as they will receive the Test Login details on the
email id mentioned in the application form.

Career Path

Career prospects on successful completion of ETO course:

17 weeks training at the Institute -> 8 months training on ship as Trainee Electro Technical Officer >
Around 6 months sailing as Asst. Electro Technical Officer > Post successful clearance eligible for
employment as Electro Technical Officer globally.

- Stipend for Onboard Training as Trainee Electro Technical
Officer: Rs.30,000/- pm.

- Stipend for Onboard Training as Asst. Electro Technical
Officer: Rs.50,000/- pm.

On successful clearance of Examination & Ships Evaluation, Elevation as Electro
Technical Officer, the salary will be that of MUI 1st Year Scale (approximately Rs.1,
25,000/- p.m., subject to applicable TDS, if any)

General Instructions.
1. The Applicants are responsible to ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria, regarding
educational qualifications, MMPE test, age and eyesight.

2. Eligibility criteria for admission to the course are as per the guidelines issued of the Directorate
General of Shipping and hence are not changeable.

3. If any false / incorrect information furnished by the Applicant is detected at any stage, his/her
candidature will not be considered and if selected, he will be removed from the training course
and course fees will be forfeited

4. Course fees, advance fees, Examination fees once paid, will not be refunded, partly or
otherwise, under any circumstances.

5. As the applications are processed by a computerised system, it is essential that the application be
forwarded strictly in accordance with the prescribed format.

6. Duly filled in Application Form should have one photograph pasted and Demand Draft attached.
Originals/photocopies of certificates etc. should not be sent with the application form.

7.

All fields in the Online Application Form should be filled with correct details and Application number should
be noted by the candidate for all future reference.

8. Candidates should possess at least Twelve (12) recent passport size photographs (front view) and
these photographs only must be used on Application Form, Interview, Medical Examination,
training etc. Any change of photograph will disqualify the Candidate.

9. Candidates, at the time of interview, will be required to produce original copies of proof of age,
Degree Certificate, HSC Certificate or equivalent, SSC Certificate or equivalent, where applicable
from Govt. recognized board/universities.

11. All communication will be sent at the address given in the application. Request for change in
address will not be entertained. Information regarding the selection process shall be displayed on

Note:

The Offer of admission for Pre-Sea Training and Shipboard Training by GES shall not be considered as
guarantee of employment on completion of such training. However, in the event of GES offering
employment after passing the Examination, the candidate shall agree to be bound to accept our
employment and serve on our vessels for a period of three years. This is a requirement as per the Gazette
Notification S.O.2132 (E) issued on December 12, 2007 by Govt. of India.
