PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently.
PRAYERS FOR THE SICK AND SHUT-IN: “Let us raise up in prayer those who seek
God’s healing love, those at the hospital, hospice and at home”. We pray especially for
Marjorie Dolan, Brian Smith and Harold Bolger. May your struggle be consoled by
Christ’s love“.

Y E A R O F T H E P R I E S T D I N N E R : My thanks will be expressed to the Knights of

Columbus of the Diocese and to the Diocesan C.W.L., but a personal word of thanks to the
many parishioners of St. Francis Xavier who attended the dinner is also appropriate. To
see so many of you there, and to have received your kind words as well is appreciated.

CONFIRMATION: We express our gratitude to the Bishop for his presence and supportive
words to the young people and their families. I wish to congratulate the candidates for
their sincerity and commitment to the journey of preparation which assisted them
in arriving at the moment of celebration. The catechists of our parish who assisted
the families with the time of preparation are as well to be commended for their
commitment. You assisted our parish greatly along the way!!
May I again congratulate the newly confirmed:

these sheets and return them to the Parish by Sunday, May 16th. The more sheets that the convenors

to reach our goal of a sell out of all 2500 books of tickets! To date approx. 1400 books have been
distributed, and some monies returned. If you have not picked up tickets yet to buy or sell
please consider doing so as this is a major fundraiser for the Parish. For info or tickets please call

CATHOLIC EDUCATION: “REJOICING IN HOPE”

C atholic Education Week is celebrated from May 2 to May 7, 2010. This year’s theme,
“Catholic Education: Rejoicing in Hope”, comes from St. Paul’s letter to the Philippians
where he writes, “Rejoice in the Lord always… and the God of Peace will be with
you.” (Phil 4:4,9) During this week, schools will be celebrating the gift of Catholic
Education with special prayers and presentations. We ask that the Parish continue to
pray for our Catholic schools, that they may be marked by God’s hope and joy. Contact
your local school for more details.
