Weather Changes
At 7.30 a.m. on 7 July 1987 the temperature in the American town of
Greensbury, Kansas went up 11C in ten minutes from 24C to 35C. No
one has found a reason for this.
In March 1978, workers in a field in France heard a very loud noise and the
earth shook. The noise came from the next field. They ran to the field and
found a very large hole in the ground. In the hole was a 25-kilo piece of
ice. The ice stayed in one piece for an hour.

Text Crop circles

In 1990 it was discovered that ordinary people were
making some of the circles. Two of these people were
artists, Doug Bowerand and Dave Chorley. Their circles
were called Doug and Dave circles. Experts wanted to
be sure that people really could make these. Money was
offered to the person who could make the best crop
circle. Some beautiful shapes were produced. This
proved that ordinary people could make crop circles.
Many experts lost interest then.
But every year new crop circles are seen. Many crop
circle makers cant explain some of these new shapes.
They are so perfect to difficult to draw on paper. How can some one make these beautiful shapes
in the short summer night? The mystery continues.

There is a small fire station in town. At this station, the firefighters are volunteers. That
means they work for free. The fire station gets some money from the government to take care of
the building and the fire truck. But the fire station has a problem. Last winter, a pipe in the fire
station froze. Then it burst. Water went everywhere. There is a lot of damage. Now the building
cannot be used. What is worse, the fire station does not have enough money for the repairs needed
to fix the damage. The people in town are worried about what will happen if there is a fire and no
working fire station. But they will figure out a way to solve the problem. They always do!
