Parameter Patch Bay

This is the heart of the The Random Route Generator. The user can use common quarter
inch patch cords to link together the The Random Route Generator in a huge variety of
ways. The order that you patch the parameters together in will effect their frequency and
prominence in your route. There are six available patching options, but the route will always begin on the left and output on the right. This system also makes it possible to bypass
certain parameters. Dont care if youre going north or south? You dont have to patch it in!

The modular system allows you to input a
series of factors that will help the random
generation suit your specific needs. The
Random Route Generator ships from our
factory with four preset modules that allow
you randomize Turns, Direction, speed and
Distance. By patching together these four
factors, you can generate a route that suits
your psychogeographic needs!

Frequency Adjustment Knobs

These potentiometers allow you to adjust the frequency modulation of the The Random
Route Generators parameters. If you want more variation in the number or direction of
turns for example, you would place the knob in the centre. This would lead to a greater
variety of left and right turns in the route. If you wanted the The Random Route Generator
to favour a certain direction, you would turn the knob all the way to the left (left turns) or all
the way to the right (right turns). This allows for a fully customizable user experience.

User Generated Modules

As these diagrams illustrate, there are many ways to patch the The Random Route Generator together. It is possible to bypass certain parameters or use them all. This allows for a
nearly endless number of possible generations!

It is also possible for the user to create their own parameter modules and then incorporate
them into the patch. This allows for an innumerable amount of combinations to shape
your psychogeographic adventures. The user generated modules are limited only by the
creativity of the user!

Print Card
When your route has been generated, the
Random Route Generator will output a
printed card when you connect a compatible
printer that will direct you on your psychogeographic derive! The card gives you
details about your Turns, Direction, Speed

and Distance. It is simple to read, and the

Random Route Generator will even keep
track of the number of trips you take by
assigning each card a unique chronological
identification number!
