Delightful Experience
I have a lot of adventurous imaginations for my college life such as joining contests or
competitions, being a part of an organization, being one of the representatives of the class,
and many more but I didnt expect them to become a reality. Nevertheless, it was a very
exciting and delightful experience of mine.
At first, I was very anxious and hesitant to join a contest like the History Quiz Bee. In my
past experiences, I had already participated contests for different subject areas such as
Science, English and Values Education but it was really difficult for me to say yes on
competing for a History Quiz Bee. I refuse to join because I am not that good in History and I
dont know what it would feel like to be one of the contestants. But then, our team leader for
the accountancy week went to our room and requested for the list of representatives from our
section. My classmates suggested many names but it was my friend, Charlene, who
recommended me and encouraged me to join. Trisha! I know you can do it friend, she told
me. Then my other classmates also took part and showed their support. I didnt have the heart
to say no due to the pressure I felt from their persuasion. Besides, I also dont want our team
leader to get mad so I agreed and our president officially wrote my name on the list.
It was my first time to participate in this kind of contest so I dont know what lessons are
needed to be studied and reviewed. Even our team leader doesnt know what would be the
coverage of the contest. Because Im a BSA student, as expected, I have so many things or
works to do that week which left me with only one or two hours to read and study for the
contest. The contest came and unfortunately, I was only able to prepare for it in a span of two
days. I was nervous yet happy that Im one of the representatives of our team.

However, I was shocked that during the contest proper, the questions that the quiz
masters made werent on the list of the lessons that Ive studied. They focused more on
general information and current issues. Because of my tight schedule I cant even watch TV
news and read newspapers. Moreover, I didnt know that it was identification type of contest.
All I know is that the contest is supposed to be in a multiple choice style in the easy and
average rounds and an identification type for the final round. Thank God I answered some,
more or less five questions correctly. I admit that I wasnt able to study that hard which
resulted to my failure. But all in all, I could say that it was a fun experience and full of
information to be kept.
Not all the time in contests and competitions, even if you say youre ready, you will get
the top rank. Maybe, youre destined to lose to gain more lessons and morals to change your
habits and improve you.

Precious.
She is someone no one can ever replace in my heart. From the start, when I dont know
everything about in this world, shes the one who introduce it to me.
She, really is a blessing to me. She is kind. Shes always there when I needed someone
beside me to face the challenges life has given. Moreover, when she went somewhere else and
something made her think of me, she buys it. Also, she is considerate. As long as I remembered,
when I forgot to text her that Im going home late, she didnt much scolded me because she knew
where I was that day and I told her what Ive experienced that day. At the same time, she would
be considerate to you, otherwise you made something she doesnt really like or say something
unpleasant to her or to the ones close to her heart. Then, she talks like theres no tomorrow when
you have done wrong. Sometimes we cant deny that people misunderstood something, when she
knew that shes the one who is wrong, maybe just a second would have passed before she
reconcile with you because youre important to her. Shes a generous person. When somebody
ask her something that is needed already, she would give it even though only a minute of it was
left to her. Shes not expecting a pay-back provided that you would use it right. I remembered,
when we walked on the street, near to our home, we saw a woman whos just sitting on the side.
Her clothes were torn apart, has a messy hair, full of grease on her body and she has a small
wound. That time were heading home from the grocery, so she gave three packs of different
biscuit to her. It is just a simple way of sharing the blessings we had. She is also an industrious
person. She can do everything, even if its difficult she would work for it, just to make her loved
ones happy. And she has a faith in the Almighty God. Shes praying to the Almighty to thank,
praise and to ask for guidance and good health for the everyday struggle for life. Also, she is a

loving person. She always care for me, shes always there behind me, guiding me through those
thick and thin walls of life and telling me words of wisdom on how to survive in this adventure
of life.
Those were her distinct traits that made me think that shes a hero. She is my mother whom I
treated as a best friend, a teacher and a sister that has outstanding traits making her very precious
and dearest to me.

Why Do We Lie
I.

Bad Reasons of Telling a Lie.

A. To minimize our mistakes.
1. Students might lie to their teachers about unfinished homework.
B. To get out of situations that we do not want to be in or cannot manage.
1. Not wanting to attend a dorm meeting and having an excuse.
2. A student with weak writing skills sometimes asks a friend to write a
composition for him/her.

II.

Good Reasons of Telling a Lie.

A. Telling white lies when we do not want to hurt someone elses feelings.
1. To a good friend having an unflattering new haircut we do say I like your
haircut. It looks good on you. To spare his/her feelings.
2. It is useful in maintaining good relationships.
B. Telling protective lies to help us get out of or avoid dangerous situations.
1. Parents teach their children to use this type of lie in certain circumstances
such as explaining on the phone that their mom and dad are too busy to
come to the phone.
2. It may prevent harm or disaster.

Pedro and Peter

Each one of us will be experiencing changes until our last breath here on earth. It might be in
how we interact to others, how we live and how our bodies develop as we grow. Likewise, the
differences between the man of the past to the present as time goes by.
Going back to the past, Pedro was the ones who have the power, power to rule his tribe, that
no one else can get it from him except if theres someone, specifically a man, who have the
courage to steal it from him or if hes unfortunate enough that he dies unexpectedly. While Peter,
today, he also have the power to rule, but Mary too, could have it. Because of this law called,
Gender Equality, were men and women should receive equal treatment, and should not be
discriminated against based on gender. Pedro also, is the one who has the throne to govern in
their home. Hes the one who will create laws and decide for his family. Similarly, Peter is the
one to be followed in their home but sometimes, Mary as his wife, got the victory to command
the people in their home.
But over and above all these commonalities, exist some differences. As what many people
observed, Pedro is more a gentleman wherein they respect other people especially women. He
give his seat to a lady who doesnt have any chairs to sit. On the other hand, Peter, although
some arent, are less gentlemanly. Just like in the Metro Rail Transit (MRT), when the train is too
crowded and there were no seats, Mary was standing there in the corner while Peter was sitting
pretty beside her. Furthermore, Pedro, when it comes to courting Maria, he do give his best
efforts to show his true intentions to her such as going to her house to ask her parents gratitude
towards his intentions to their daughter; composing a song to serenade her in the wonderful
evening sky; fetching water in the well for her to use when bath time, etc. Whereas Peter, he
courts Mary through the use of technology. Through the use of social networking sites,

messaging applications, etc. He gets the sweetest Yes! of Maria without exerting too much
efforts. Moreover, in the way they wear clothes, Pedro is more formal wearing Barong Tagalog,
Tuxedo, etc. pairing it with black shoes while Peter wears sando, t-shirts, shorts, pants, long
sleeves etc. pairing it with rubber shoes, slippers or anything thats included in the trends list.
Also, Pedro talks in a flowery way or hes beating around a bush, meaning hes not direct to the
point. As with Peter, hes straight forward, hes not afraid if he hurts the feelings of others. In
addition, Pedro is more patient like in courting Maria. Its alright for him to be a slave of the
family of Maria because he do really love her and his intentions to her is true and clean. While
Peter, hes always being fed up. Like a little brat that anything he likes, it must be on his hands
right away.
As time goes by these traits of Pedro and Peter would really have a wide gap. As modernity
eats the world, people do also change because of coping to what the universe wants. As long as
the earth revolves around the sun, these changes both have would get doubled as what they have
now because of globalization.

Budgeting Daily Allowance

The pie graph represents the way I budget my daily allowance in pesos. A total of
Php130.000 is given to me as an allowance and is divided into four divisions: Food,
Transportation, Necessary things to pay or the unexpected payment of anything I needed, and
savings. Of the Php130.00 for a day, 30% or Php39.00 were used for buying foods for lunch and
snack time; 28% or Php36.00 were consumed for the transportation expenses; 22% or Php29.00
for the necessary things to pay for that day such as payments for photocopies, ball pens, papers,
etc.; and 20% or Php26.00 for my savings or future use. Only less than Php100.00 are being
consumed for a day and the rest are being saved. The biggest portion of my allowance goes to
my food expenses because how can you gain learnings when your tummy is not full.
Therefore most of my daily allowance goes to my food and transportation expenses in which
a student must really provide for them to survive in a day of stress.

Death as a Thief?
Death, like a thief in the night, comes when least expected. At a young age, you dont know
what to feel when youre stolen by someone or when someone close to your heart dies
unexpectedly. All you can do is on the corner crying like theres no tomorrow that youve lost
something you cant find anymore.
Losing something or someone important to you is very difficult to accept. Just like when
death arrives, you dont even know when it is coming; similarly, when a thief comes to your
house or wherever you are, youre not expecting to happen that to you or to your dearest. Both of
it takes away precious things that you have in life. But the ones they get to you was of different
nature.
Death stole away the priceless gift of the Almighty which is the life that you cannot bring
back; then a thief stole expensive material things that you have such as jewelery, gadgets, money,
etc. These two distinct nouns bring something to its victims. For death brings everlasting pain
that in a span of time or by-process it might be healed. Also it was difficult to forget the person
who died for his family because in everyday God had made, they were used to be in one roof,
together struggling for survival of this wild universe. Then for the thief, it brings frightening
feeling and traumatism to their victims because they put the lives of their victim in harm.
Moreover, their victims would not really want it to happen again.
These two diverse nouns are really difficult to tell when and where it would happen. Thus,
people must acquire acceptance when death and thief would invade their peaceful lives.

Didi
Each one of us have that memorable place or somewhere you always wanted to go. Its like
having a secret base where no one else would ever know where you are. There is this place that
many people felt like theyre in other dimensions of the world.
A newly opened board game bar/cafe somewhere along in Pasig Avenue here in Manila
where nobody goes because it is too crowded. This must go to place is called Dyce N Dyne
meaning, dice for game and dine for chow. So when you and your friends were chronologically
challenged on the opening time, I bet you would wanted to find another place because people
really wanted to stay there forever.
You could find this place across the road opposite of the Sea Oil Gas Station in Pasig Ave.
From the main door, you could feel the warm welcome of the place. You could also have a
sneak peak on whats inside of it because it has a clear glass wall. You could sense that it is not
an ordinary board game cafe because of its wonderfully demented front door signage. Hanging
over the main wall of it is a massive brass works sculpture of a giant squid. The owner called it
Didi in which it was like the name of the restaurant, Di for Dyce and Di for Dyne. It is
also called Didi because it was the last name theyd think for a metal squid hovering above a
restaurant, ready to drag customers into the deep with its iron tentacles. It was made from
old motorcycle parts and scrap metal, then lit it up from within, it is an unconventional presence
in a very unconventional cafe thats why it is a steampunk board game cafe. Going up the stairs,
you could find at the right corner, the Gaming Library, in which it was the first online store for
board games here in the Philippines. You could also locate thousands of board games and toys

in the library. Across the library were the tables and chairs for their customers. Facing front,
you could find their amazing, hand-made chandelier that was made of liquor bottles. At the
bottom of it were again tables and chairs then on its inner right corner was the comfort room
located. Beside it was a door to their kitchen and opposite of the C.R. was the cash register and
the bar where they prepare the drinks of their customers. Then in front of it was the shelves of
the board games people could borrow and play. The shelves were like the ones in a book
library because it has classifications too.
You and your friends, for sure, would argue on which board game to play first because of
having so many choices in front of you. Then as you play along with your friends, you wouldnt
mind the tick-tack of the clock. You do really feel that you are in the real setting of your chosen
board game. You wouldnt even get bored in there and you would have lots of fun.
Its not just for friends to release stress, but also for families to have bonding time. You
would surely love this place not just because of its thousands of board games but also the
ambiance and the foods they are serving.
