West Michigan Snow Runners Joins Panhandle Area Chamber of Commerce

“Educating people on safe riding is
the mission of West Michigan Snow Run-
ners”, said Rob Zemla of West Michigan
Snow Runners, newest member of the
Chamber of Commerce.
From helmet to boots, the club stress-
es the proper dress for safety. The correct
fit of the helmet is important in keeping
the rider safe from injury, along with be-
ing fit to the right sled. Teaching own-
ers of snowmobiles how to tune and tech
prep their sled for cold or warmer weath-
er and the condition of the snow are im-
portant for a fun, trouble free ride.
West Michigan Snow Runners are
gearing up for winter fun to include snow
runs, dinner dashes, and call and goes. A
call and go would be a service offered to
riders from out of town who wish to ride
local trails. West Michigan Snow Run-
ners will be available to tell a caller about
our local trails and could even meet and
ride with an inquirer.
To learn more about the Snow Run-
ners, contact Rob Zemla at (616) 636-

Meditation and Relaxation

One of the tools we can learn to use to help us deal with the memories of past trauma is Meditation. Whitefish Lake
In the early 1980’s I was working in the plant medical department at Diesel Equipment, one of the General
Motors factories in Grand Rapids. The job was very stressful and I decided to attend a class to try to learn Golf & Grill
Loon’s Nest
how to relax. I had developed an ulcer and had high blood pressure. The weekend fun of sailing, partying
with friends, and excessive drinking was making things worse instead of better.
I realized that I did not know how to relax; I did not know how to slow down my mind and let my body

recharge and rejuvenate. So I attended a four hour relaxation class. It turned out to be one of those life
changing experiences.
For the first time in years, I realized that the pressure I had in my chest was not normal. With the daily
practice of the mental training exercises I had learned, the blood pressure returned to normal and the ulcer

healed. The effects of this was so profound, I decided to explore further. I took a training program call “The
Silva Method”. This was a four day course targeted at teaching people to learn to use their own minds for the
benefit of their own health.
We had learned to meditate. Meditation is a way to relax the body and recharge all the chemicals that are
constantly being used up. I had always viewed meditation as something strange and

odd. I had seen pictures of the Guru with folded arms and legs, chanting in a blue Mother’s receive FREE Gift & Golf!

haze of incense. In reality it is very different.
Meditation has three parts. The Induction helps us change quickly from an active,
awake state of mind to a more passive, restful state of mind. The Programming Phase
involves mental pictures and statements, much like daydreaming. When we mentally 1-888-368-5666
see ourselves at an ideal place of relaxation, our brain thinks we are actually there
and it begins to manufacture the chemicals associated with relaxation. Positive Join Us For Weekly
affirmations (statements) help up-date our operating programs. The Ending is a Leagues & Scrambles
gradual return to our normal activity. Openings available for both!
Daily practice of a relaxing meditation will improve our lives physically, mentally,
and spiritually.
