Topic: Reported Speech
Aim 1: Knowledge of reported speech
Objective (s): By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to;
1- state the rules of the reported forms of simple present sentences
2- state the meaning of reported speech sentences.
Aim 2: Understanding the usage of reported sentences
Objective (s): By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to;
1- change direct sentences into reported speech
2- produce reported sentences
Aim 3: Developing the students listening skills
Objective (s): By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to;
1- listen to a song and fill in the blanks
2- sing the song they have learned
Aim 4: Developing students speaking skills.
Objective (s): By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to;
1- answer the questions of What do/does he/she /they say?
2- report what they have just hear
Aim 5: Enjoy the English lesson
Objective (s): By the end of the lesson students will be able to
1- Join the activities actively
2- Work with their partners and groups voluntarily

Anticipated Problems
1: Students may difficulty in the change of the subject and object pronouns.
2: Students may confuse the usage of V1 after 3.singular subject pronouns
Solution(s): If these happen, I will make them correct themselves and make them repeat.
Materials: Board, board maker, pictures, tape recorder, cassette, hand outs

-Greet the students. Say, Hello, how are you friends?
( have a small talk)
-Give the instruction
Here is a box in my hand end there are small papers
in it. At the same time demonstrate it- You are going
to come and take one and draw it on the board. Others
are going to guess the words and you are going to say
I want to say. If it is true you are going to come and
take another one. Ok?

-Say These are my grandparents. My grandmother is
at home and my grandfather is outside. They are
talking on the phone.
-say My grandmother say I want something from
you.
-Make them repeat the sentence.
-Say, She says she wants something from him.
- Make them repeat the sentence.
-Divide the board two columns. Write only direct form
on the board.
-Do the same thing for other sentences.
For the second time, turn the sentences and make them
repeat the indirect form of the sentences.
-Write the indirect forms on the board, too.
Direct Speech
I want something from you.
I cant buy it.
I dont have any money.
We are very old.
Indirect Speech
She says she wants something from him
He says he cant buy it.
He says he doesnt have any money.
They say they are very old.
Guided Discovery
-Make them realize the differences in the both columns
-Ask meaning and form questions.
-Show the differences by underlining, circling, etc.
Check point
Say the first sentences that you say for lead in I have a
good time.
And want them report the sentence.
ACTIVITY I:
-Organize sts in groups of four.
Give the instruction. Say, I have cards in my hand. I
cut them for you. I want you to make direct sentences.
When you make correct sentence, at the back the
indirect form is automatically made. (At the same
time demo it.)
-Check the instruction.
-Set the time.

- (stick some pictures on the walls and write a sentence
on each picture beforehand).

-Give feedback and say It is time to listen to the song
and sing.
-Sing the song together and give feedback.
WRAP-UP:
-Summarize the lesson.
- Ask questions about the topic. E.g. What did you
learn? What is the name of the topic? How can we
report? Which verb do we use for reporting, etc?
