As a course requirement for our curriculum Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering,
students are required to undergo 240 hours of On-the-Job Training (OJT) to enable
them to practice/apply the skills, theories and concepts learned in school to actual
work setting.
The OJT program is in accordance with the memorandum circular of the Department
of Labor, as follows;
Pursuant to Article 71 of the Labor Code of the Philippines on the training of
students without compensation, the following guidelines are hereby issued
for the compliance of all concerned.
The training of student without compensation in business establishments and
other work places is allowed only where (a) the training is a requirement of a
curriculum or training program of duly recognized schools or training centers
or (b) is a pre-requisite to a board examination.
In this connection, may we request that you allow our students to render their Onthe-Job Training in your establishment/company/office to afford them the
opportunity to experience actual and prevailing situation in office/technical
operations during the period of their training.
As a part of the training program, the students are made aware of the following:
1. They will not be compensated during the entire training period.
2. They will abide the rules and regulations of the office where they are
undergoing training.
3. They will be responsible for themselves during the OJT period.
4. They had secured their parents consent for the said training.
We will appreciate very much your assistance and favorable action regarding this
matter.
