WALUMPUNG libo (80,000) lang daw ang bumoto sa
nakarehistrong kalahating milyong (500,000) absentee vot-
ers. Ang mga absentee voters ay ang mga Pilipino na nasa
ibang bansa na pwedeng lumahok sa halalan ngayong 2010,
una silang bumoto noong isang lingo. Labing-anim na
porsyento lang, napakaliit!
Napakalaki ng nasayang na mga boto na pwede sanang
makapagbago ng ating
kinabukasan.
Kung ang mahigit 80
porsyento na hindi bumoto ay
nag-desisyon at pumili ng
tama, napakalakas sana
nilang pwersa para
ikasusulong ng kandidato na
sa palagay nila ay ang
kailangan ng Pilipinas.
Pero hindi sana ganito dito sa atin sa Mayo 10, ilang araw
na lang. Sabi ng isang political analyst, masyado daw in-
volved ang Pilipino sa halalan ngayon. Lahat may opinyon,
lahat may kinakampihan, may hinahangaan at may sinisiraan.
Pero bakit may undecided pa rin? Bakit hindi maka-decide
ang isang botante?
Dahil ba kasi alam ng bawat isa kung sino ang tama at
ang dapat pero nag-a-alangan tumindig dahil sa
impluwensya ng ibang tao, ng mga tsismis at ng pera.
Halimbawa, may kandidato na dala ng isang malakas na
partido, galante magbigay ng P250 araw-araw sa mga sup-
porters, libre pa ang pananghalian at meryenda, pero sa puso
ng tao alam na ang kandidatong ito ay hindi tapat, may mga
kaso ng katiwalian at pwedeng absuhin ang tungkulin
sakaling maupo.
Natural sa pagtulog ng botante sa gabi, lalo kung
nakatanggap sya ng P250, undecided ang puso nya.
Ang iba nating mga kababayan may napupusuan pero
sabi sa survey hindi mananalo kaya parang ayaw na rin
nya ito iboto dahil matatalo. Ay talagang matatalo ang
kandidato mo kung hindi mo iboboto.
Meron din na sigurado na sana sa iboboto nya pero tuwing
may lumalabas na pasabog na balita ang kalaban, nanghihina
ng loob at baka pagdating ng Lunes, Mayo 10, ay hindi na
maibalik ang lakas ng loob.
Meron kaya na naghihintay lang ng mas malaking offer,
yung mga nagbebenta ng kalayaang bumoto. Tsk, tsk. Dapat
sana sa oras na ito ay sigurado na ang boto ng tao.
Dapat buo na ang loob at pag-asa na mananalo ang napiling
kandidato dahil ito ang tama, tapat, hindi magnanakaw, at
may kakayahang i-angat ng mas mataas ang bayan.
Dapat, by this time, alam na natin ang mga isyu – trabaho,
pabahay, walang korapsyon, libreng edukasyon at gamot,
walang brown-outs, at kaligtasan – at kung sino ang may
kakayahan na isulong at ipagtanggol ang mga isyung ito
para sa mas nakararami hindi lang sa kamag-anak, kaibigan
at ka-partido ng kandidato.
Ang eleksyon ay hindi parang taya sa karera o sugal na
ang pipiliin mo ay yung palagay mo at ng marami ay
mananalo. Dapat decided ka na by this time.
