ESSENTIAL QUESTION(S):

What are the characteristics of angles and sides

that will create geometric shapes, especially
triangles?
How does geometry help us describe real-world
objects?

TIME LINE

WARM UP (MINUTES):
Spiral warm up from seventh grade math curriculum.

OPENING (MINUTES):
The teacher will facilitate a review of the previously used vocabulary.
This will consist of the application of solving one and two step
equations to solve for variables in equations.

WORK SESSION (MINUTES)

The teacher will facilitate instruction Classifying Angles using Glencoe
Chapter 7 Lesson 1. Students will take notes as the lesson is being
taught.
Students will be taking notes on the following angles:
Vertical
Complementary
Supplementary
Adjacent Angles
Afterwards, the students will complete the Independent Practice on page
539.

ENDURING UNDERSTANDING(S):

Students will understand there are different types

of angles when describing real-world objects.
Students will be able to find and use angle
measures when describing real-world objects.

H.O.T. (Higher Ordered Thinking Questions) (Min.

3)
Determine whether the statement is sometimes, always,
or never true. Justify your answer.
It is possible for a triangle to have two obtuse angles?
STANDARDS:
MGSE7.G.5 Use facts about supplementary,
complementary, vertical, and adjacent angles in a
multistep problem to write and solve simple

WARM UP (MINUTES):
Students will log into the Khan Academy app using their logins to view review
videos and answer questions from MGSE.7.G.2. The results of this warm-up
activity will be loaded to their online dashboard which is able to be viewed by
their parents and myself. Students will receive addition help as needed.

WORK SESSION (MINUTES)

The teacher will facilitate instruction Classifying Angles using Glencoe Chapter
7 Lesson 1. As means of engagement, the Glencoe Ppt will be delivered from a
Nearpod presentation. Nearpod, which can be accessed via a laptop or cellular
phone app will enable the teacher to manage the content (Glencoe Ppt) on
students one-to-one devices and provide real-time formative assessment results.
Students will take notes as the lesson is being taught, and they are able to
answers questions as formative assessments as multiple choice, drawing, or
constructive response.

Students will also complete questions from 7th Grade Math Learning Games
based off of this standard (MGSE.7.G5). As students are completing these
problems, I will circulate the room and monitor to address any misconceptions
while students are working on this engaging app.
