Relationship between Non-Exclusive Breastfeeding with Growth Disorders and
Genesis Infection in Infants 6-12 months By: Risauti Prabandari, dr.May Valzon, M.Sc ABSTRAK Background: Mother's Milk (ASI) is an ideal nutrient to support health, growth and optimal infant brain development. The value of the nutrients contained in milk is more complex than the formula. According to data from the data in the world and Indonesia frequency of exclusive breastfeeding tends to be low and has decreased every year. According to some studies in non-exclusive breastfeeding can cause several infectious diseases in infants. Infectious diseases that are often experienced by infants are gastrointestinal infections and respiratory tract infections. Purpose: To determine the relationship between the non-exclusive breastfeeding with growth disorders and the incidence of infection in infants 6-12 months. Methods: The study design was cross-sectional. The experiment was conducted in the area of the District Health Center Dayun. Sampling using the Probability Sampling Cluster Sampling with sample size 125 and test data analysis using the Risk Association. Results: Based on the test results obtained there is no statistical relationship between the non-exclusive breastfeeding with growth disorders (RP = 0.920, 95% CI = 0.555 to 1.524), and there is a strong relationship between the non-exclusive breastfeeding on the incidence of infection (RP = 8.89 95% CI = 1.071 to 73.740). Conclusion: There is no relationship between the non-exclusive breastfeeding with growth disorders, and non-exclusive breastfeeding has a factor of 8.89 times greater risk of infection compared with exclusive breastfeeding on the incidence of infection. Keywords: non-exclusive breastfeeding, growth disorders, the incidence of infection.
