It is commonly believed that a successful career is solely determined by ones

academic qualification :
Many people often ask why academic qualification is important with respect to ones career.
Some people also want to know how academic qualification can impact overall quality of life, in
addition to the impact on one's career. Depending on the level of success were seeking to
achieve, the level of education may be relative, but the bottom line is, an education of some sort
is often paramount to future success. Completing increasingly advanced levels of education
shows that we have a drive and commitment to learn and apply information, ideas, theories, and
formulas to achieve a variety of tasks and goals. Thats why we have to agree that academic
qualification is very important in order to build a successful career because it helps to learn all
the basic knowledge of any career, to drive a healthcare industry and to meet in requiring any
employment.

Firstly, Education by which we get our academic qualification is the basic in learning
of our career. School teaches us how to gather, learn, and apply knowledge. No matter what
career we choose, we will need to learn procedures, information and skills related to our job and
execute tasks based on that information and training. By attending school, we are able to learn
from the experience and intellect of thousands of people who have gone before us. In just a few
years, through our textbooks, research, and class lessons, school gives us a consolidated
overview of theories, formulas, ideologies, and experiments conducted by generations of
scientists, philosophers, mathematicians, historians, and other experts. While gaining our own
personal work experience is helpful too, a formal education is a way to learn from centuries of
others life and work and academic experience before us. Students are encouraged to think
independently, contribute to classroom discussions, and make important decisions on their own.
School allows us to interact with other people and refine your communication skills, including
those of persuasion, conflict resolution, and teamwork. Communication skills are essential in any
role whether were dealing with co-workers, patients, customers, or supervisors. Mathematics
and Science skills are essential for basic computations and calculations. Although calculators and
1

computers are readily accessible, we still need to learn how to do basic computations and
calculations on paper or in our head. If we are calculating dosages, counting surgical supplies, or
tallying sales, math skills are imperative for a career.

Secondly, education is important to everyone, but education is even more important in

the healthcare industry. Technology, math and science are key components of many healthcare
roles. Healthcare careers often require knowledge and understanding of the sciences, and
technology. These fields are always changing and growing with new developments and
discoveries. Therefore its imperative to have a basic understanding we can build on with
continuing education throughout our career, to keep up with the latest changes and new
information. Health professionals have a huge responsibility for the health, well-being, and
survival of others. Therefore, health professionals must be particularly adept and relating to other
people, learning and gathering information about a patient, and applying it to the treatment and
care of that patient based on medical knowledge. For many healthcare roles, degrees and
certifications are required for licensure to practice in a certain capacity. Many allied healthcare
jobs require at least an associates degree, most nurses need bachelors degrees, and physicians
and advanced practice nurses must have many years of post-graduate training to include masters
and doctorate degrees.

Thirdly, Academic qualification is important, is that its become a basic requirement for
so many employers, to even get your foot in the door. Many employers require college level
education, even for roles which previously did not require it, such as administrative assistant
positions. The fewer years of education weve completed, the fewer doors are open to us. Its that
simple. For example, most entry-level white collar jobs are available to those who have
completed an Associates degree. But Bachelor degree programs are the basic qualification for
higher paying and more responsible roles. For more complex and leadership roles, graduate
degrees are essential. Educational requirements are a quick and easy way to narrow down the
field of applicants, especially in situations where there are more applicants than jobs. When
hiring from a field of candidates, employers prefer those who have completed the higher level of
education. Academic qualification becomes so important to employers because of working with
2

hiring managers to conduct candidate searches, it seems that the education requirement has
become a barrier for entry into many careers, because academic qualifications allow us to learn
how to learn. Contrary to what the recession and consequential depressed job market would have
we believe, getting higher education becomes even more important a tough economy. In todays
job market, many employers look for individuals who have some kind of postsecondary
education even for low-end clerical roles.

On the other hand, the meaning of successful career is not just getting a grade or
a degree, if that was it then why aren't all the graduates from Harvard, Oxford or Cambridge
uniformly successful? The rule of success is hard work and destiny of course. If a student of
engineering gets good grades but he is not practically effective in relationship-buildings and
solving crises or proper planning, even though he may be successful in getting a job but it will
not lead him far. On the way he is sure to fade out. Musician such as a singer need not to have a
certificate. The singing professions include backup artists, music stars and opera singers, as well
as concert singers and recording artists need to use their voice to convey emotion, interpret the
songwriters message and provide an enjoyable experience for the audience rather than academic
qualification. The ability to read music can be learned, but a sense of pitch is innate. We know
prosperity does not depend upon academic qualifications but upon opportunities provided by
entrepreneurs who may not be necessarily be highly educated. Successful entrepreneurs even
benefit from not having academic qualifications, because going to college and taking
examinations forces people to learn and think like millions of other graduates. This actually
makes it less likely that they will come up with the truly mould breaking insights and
disruptive ideas on which successful innovations and new business models are built.

Although, successful career is not just getting a grade or a degree, academic

qualification ensures us to be successful in career because mastering some subjects allows us to
calculate, to innovate and to communicate. These essentials for success cannot be learned
without professional help in schools and colleges. And in order to prove that someone has
acquired this knowledge, they are tested. If their learning is satisfactory, then they are given a
certificate to indicate their competence an academic qualification. Although there are some
3

singers who have never been formally educated, many singers have Bachelors or Masters
degrees in music. Skills a singer may find useful include the ability to read music and a
knowledge of composition, music theory or performance. Formal education is more likely to be
required for classical music or opera. There may be a few high-profile people who have made it,
in spite of their drop-out background and lack of academic qualifications, but this cannot be
generalized. We must not tell our children to leave schooling because if Bill Gates can do it, they
can also do it as a few exceptions cannot be taken as a general rule. If we look at a global
directory of successful people, we might find a few hundred like Bill Gates, but whats about
those millions of doctors, engineers, IT professionals, lawyers, and advocates who rely upon
their formal education. We cannot run a country without them. And even Bill Gates could not
have prospered without the skills of these IT professionals and engineers.

In conclusion, the individual who is well educated can surely understand things
better than those who are not and that individual can enhance the processes to get better results
which can be achievement and something that can lead to a successful career.
