1. In The Woods activity, T introduces the phonemes (/U/) represented by


oo by imitating the chattering of the monkey, (/u:/) represented by oo the hoot
of an owl and (/a:/) represented by ar the caw of the crow.
2. T puts the pictures of monkey, owl and crow on the whiteboard.
3. T asks few pupils to put sound cards of oo, oo and ar under each
according to their sound. For example, picture of a monkey oo, picture of
an owl oo and picture of a crow ar.

i. Write the paragraph in their exercise book (page 33, TB).

1. T shows a manila card of a story (page 33, TB).


2. T tells pupils that this is one easy way to write a story.
3. T explains to the pupils on how to write a paragraph (T compares the
substitution table and the paragraph).
4. T writes the paragraph without the substitution words and ask few pupils to
fill in the blanks.
5. T guides pupils on how to write about Rani and her grandmother.
6. Pupils are asked to replace the underlined words with the other words in
the table.

Ii. Match the sentences with the pictures.

1. T asks pupils to open page 25, AB.


2. T reads the story with the correct pronunciation and intonation and with
actions.
3. T explains the story to the pupils by using simple and easy sentences and
also by drawing and showing some pictures to them. For example, by
drawing two boys i.e. Yazid and Narin, showing pictures of crutches, old
wooden bridge and a river.
4. Pupils are asked to do activity in page 25, AB with guidance from the T.
