Career History & Accomplishments
Residential Care Worker, Keys Childcare 2007-
• Working as a Residential Care Worker has introduced me to the issues and
present
needs surrounding both individuals with learning difficulties and individuals with
behavioural problems. I have also learnt that no two individuals are the same and
therefore the ability to work without prejudice and with a non-judgemental
attitude is paramount.
• This position involves promoting and supporting young people in care and
enabling them to have the necessary skills to be able to leave the care system.
• This involves being able to engage with the individuals and build strong
relationships, implementing clear and consistent boundaries, which enable the
children and young people to flourish.
Play Worker, Cardiff Council 08/2005-
• To work closely with parents/carers to provide information and support which 10/2005
will enable them to gain the confidence and skills needed to undertake
stimulating play with their children.
• To oversee the day to day running of the play scheme, which includes
organising and supervising various activities.
• To undertake general administration duties, such as completing daily journals

of the activities of the day.

Personal Interests
• I have a keen interest in swimming and going to the gym.
• I am an avid reader and also enjoy going to the cinema.
• I enjoy travelling and have a keen interest in learning about other cultures.

Writing Section Please answer the following questions.

1. Please explain why you are the right type of person to teach overseas.
I am an enthusiastic and outgoing person who always enjoys a challenge. I have a positive work
ethic and always endeavour to learn new skills and develop my knowledge. Currently I am keen to
commit a year in South Korea, but may want to stay longer.

2. Please explain what qualities you think are necessary to be a good teacher.
The ability to listen and be patient is essential, as is enthusiasm and passion. I believe a good teacher
should be able to engage with his/her pupils and build strong relationships. Good organisational
skills are a must along with the ability to be adaptable; being prepared to change a lesson plan at the
last minute for example.

3. Please describe how you would deal with a workplace dispute with another co-worker or supervisor.
I would first sit down and chat with the person involved, communication is essential as the issue
may be something as simple as using someone's favourite mug. If the issue was still not resolved I
would seek advice from a fellow teacher or supervisor if necessary. Most importantly I believe the
pupils should never be involved or suffer because of any personal disputes.

4. Please describe some actions you could take if you began feeling homesick or lonely while in Korea.
When arriving in my new home in Korea I will make every effort to make new friends and socialise.
I will keep in regular contact with friends and family back home via e-mail and on the telephone.
And if all else fails I will remind myself of the fantastic opportunity I have been given and the
experience I am gaining.

5. Do you have any other plans for your time in Korea? (Further study, hobbies to pursue, places to
visit?)
I would be very interested in taking Korean language classes and i would also like to continue
attending a gym. I would also be very interested in visiting other area's of Korea, learning as much
about another culture as possible.
