Abstract
Sincethepolicyofopeninguptotheoutsideworldhasbeenimplemented,sociallifeinallitsaspects
hasfeltaverypowerfulandviolentimpact.Asafundamentalunitoflifeinsociety,thefamily
naturallyhasalso,inthewakeofthetremendoussocialchange,experiencedachainreaction.The
"opencities"serveastheprimarywindowsforourcountry'simplementationoftheopendoorpolicy
aswellasthefrontlinebattlepositions.Atatimewhenvariousmajorachievementsandsuccesses

havebeenattainedinthesecities,newsocialproblemshavepoppedup.Undertheinfluenceof
perniciouselements,delinquencyamongmiddleschoolstudentshasbecomeaseriousissueina
numberoftheopencities.Ifwelookatthestatisticsofcriminalsincarceratedinjuvenilecorrection
institutes,wefindthatin1979,47.15percentoftheinmateswerejuveniledelinquentsfrommiddle
schools,whereasthefigurefor1985was47.51percent.Ofthese,25.8percentofallthejuvenile
delinquentsinmiddleschoolswerefromtheopencities.Thesefiguresrepresentaveryhighratio
whichhasremainedsoforseveralyearswithoutdeclining.Inthatcase,wemaywellask:Isthereany
relationshipbetweenthefamilyasabasicenvironmentformiddleschoolstudentsandthe
phenomenonofmiddleschoolstudentjuveniledelinquency?Ifthereis,whatisit?Inparticular,there
arenewfamilyproblemsemergingintheopencities,suchastheincreaseinthenumberofbroken
families,theaccelerationofthepaceoffamilylife,thedrifttowardmaterialconcernsandneeds,and
theweakeningofthefunctionoffamilyeducation.Dotheseproblemshaveanyrelationtothe
phenomenonofmiddleschoolstudentdelinquency?Ifso,what?Astudyoftheseproblemsmaybe
helpfulinformulatingacomprehensivemethodofhandlingmiddleschoolstudentdelinquencyand
helptoguaranteeahealthygrowthfortheyoungergenerationaswellashappinessandfulfillmentfor
thelivesofeveryfamilyandtopromotethestabilityandunityoftheopencitiesandtheirmodern
construction.
