Research
Fall 2014: Conducted classroom-based research entitled The Effects
of Implicit vs. Explicit Grammar Focused Post-tasks on Target Language
Usage in an ESL Classroom. In cooperation with instructors at the
American Language and Culture Program (ALCP) in Moscow, Idaho, my
research partner and I developed and administered lessons to three
Intermediate Listening/Speaking courses, and collected and analyzed
recorded and written data. We presented our findings to the staff at the
ALCP.
Spring 2015: Reviewed existing studies on peer feedback in ESL
classrooms and outlined a plan for investigating the peer feedback in
both IEP and college writing classrooms. The goal of this research is to
gain a greater understanding of how peer feedback is used, and the
ways that writing instructors can be more effective with this valuable
classroom method.

Current Interests
I continually work to increase my knowledge of linguistics, particularly
in the areas of grammar, syntax, morphology, language origins and

language change. I use works by prominent linguists to enrich my

lessons for English 241.
I have an ongoing interest in translation, and for several years have
written translations of my favorite German poets. I do this as a way to
maintain my German language skills, and as a creative outlet.
