Professional Objective
I am passionate about protecting our environment and workers safety. Clean soil, water
and air are vital components for survival. I continue to research new ways to analyze
environmental analytes and use that knowledge to develop better methodologies to
ensure that the world survives.
Summary of Accomplishments

20 years of environmental sample analysis

4 years of QA/QC reviewing environmental analysis data and writing reports
3 years performing the duties of Chemical Hygiene/Safety Officer

Work Experience
City of Tacoma Environmental Laboratory
Tacoma, WA
Environmental Chemist II
Performed all facets of environmental duties from sampling, analysis, data
review and report writing
Prepared Lab Accreditation renewal documents for Tacomas North End
Treatment Plant Operations Laboratory
Ensured SOP compliance by performing a variety of lab procedure audits
Performed maintenance and repair of scientific instruments and equipment.
Sampled collection of ground water, surface water, soils, sludge, sediments and
industrial waste streams in accordance to SAPPs and different EPA and NPDES
permitting.
Performed duties of Chemical Hygiene and Safety Officer; including writing the
Chemical Hygiene and Safety Plans and performing safety training
Performed environmental analysis according to EPA 600, SW 846, NPDES,
SWPPP, and SOPs on every compound that the city of Tacomas Laboratory is
accredited for by the Washington State Department of Ecology except for flow
injection analysis (FIA)

Performed analysis of Volatile analytes using Gas Chromatograph with Mass

spectrometer (GC-MS), Analysis of semi-Volatiles by GC-MS, Analysis of
Pest/PCBs with GC with Electron Capture Detector (GC-ECD), Metals analysis
by inductively Coupled Plasma with Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES),
Total Organic Carbon (TOC), and many types of conventional chemistry
analyses using Titrimetric, Gravimetric, Photometric and wet chemistry on very
diverse environmental and industrial samples

Philips Environmental Laboratory

Sedro-Wolley, WA
Chemist
Performed analysis of various industrial and laboratory wastes using physical,
chemical, microbiology and instrumental analysis to determine chemical
contents
Efficiently managed instruments used in analysis include the following: Gas
Chromatograph with Mass spectrometer (GC-MS), Gas Chromatograph with
Flame Ion Detector (GC-FID), Gas Chromatograph with Electron Capture
Detector (GC-ECD), Spectrophotometers, Bomb Calorimeter, Flame AA, Auto
Titrator, and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), and HighPressure Ion Chromatography (HP-IC)
