Most people have never heard of Collaborative Divorce, or if they have, they dont really know what it is. This is not surprising because unless you are going through a divorce, or have been divorced, theres really no reason you would know. However, with more than 50% of marriages ending in divorce, its difficult to understand why there arent more lawyers like Mrs. Parker taking action to promote a simpler solution to a difficult situation. Collaborative Family Law provides a way to resolve divorce and related issues in a safe, cooperative and respectful manner. Through a series of negotiating sessions, the parties and their lawyers discuss immediate concerns, identifying long-term goals, share necessary financial information and, if necessary, jointly retain neutral financial and counseling professionals as part of the Collaborative team. While providing a unique alternative to expensive and time consuming litigation, Collaborative Divorce entails a settlement process that works within the legal system while keeping the parties out of the courtroom. Rather than relying upon court-imposed resolutions, it promotes an atmosphere of honesty, cooperation, integrity and professionalism within which the parties negotiate a settlement geared toward their future well-being.
