What the Mechanic Cockpit is.

Real Experience. Real Advantage.

[ Mechanics Cockpit Learning Points

- What was needed

Single point of entry for all mechanics SAP

needs.
Single screen to create and/or complete
ALL ORDERS. (Including all systemic
actions (labor recording, material
movements including warehouse
management, catalog info, etc)
Cockpit provides only what the users need,
with no extra or confusing screens.
Real Experience. Real Advantage.

[ Mechanic Cockpit Rationale

Mechanics are often the least trained in SAP.
Mechanics often have significant turnover.
SAP screens can be cumbersome for non-super
users, especially in the PM area.
There are too many transactions to complete a
work order, especially when user statuses are
desired.
Emergency orders commonly are needed after
hours and are the most susceptible to improper
or no documentation.
The easier it is to document, the more likely it will
be done consistently.
Real Experience. Real Advantage.

[ Mechanics Cockpit Technical Backbone

Cockpit design ensured a stable, reliable method for
accessing the SAP functionality through the use of
standard SAP BAPIs (Business Application
Programming Interfaces)
No worries about screen layout changes for future
releases
Easy updating capabilities for future requirements
and needs
Integrated user status management with standard
SAP functions to drive process enforcement.
Simple modular design for easy changes to ABAP
code
