Facing a Task Unfinished

Facing a task unfinished that drives us to our knees
A need that, undiminished, rebukes our slothful ease
We who rejoice to know Thee renew before Thy throne
The solemn pledge we owe Thee to go and make Thee known
Where other lords beside Thee hold their unhindered sway
Where forces that defied Thee defy Thee still today
With none to heed their crying for life and love and light
Unnumbered souls are dying and pass into the night
We go to all the world
With kingdom hope unfurled
No other name has power to save
But Jesus Christ the Lord
We bear the torch that flaming fell from the hands of those
Who gave their lives proclaiming that Jesus died and rose
Ours is the same commission, the same glad message ours
Fired by the same ambition, to Thee we yield our powers
O Father who sustained them, O Spirit who inspired
Savior whose love constrained them to toil with zeal untried
From cowardice defend us, from lethargy awake
Forth on Thine errands send us to labor for Thy sake

Defining Eternal Life

Our Savior has well d
efined eternal life for us. Amidst all
the confusion of the Christian life, amidst the many varying opinions, amidst sundry speculations about salvation,
let us be still before Christ and His Word to hear what
he would say about eternal life. Eternal life is not a life
that begins when you die. It is not a style of life that you
strive for. It is a quality of life, defined by knowing the
One in whom true life is found. Jesus says, this is eternal life, that they know you t he o
nly true God, a
nd Jesus
Christ w
hom you have sent. John 17:3

Ideas for evangelistic endeavors: Serve the children of this

church the gospel in Childrens Ministry. Lead the ladies of the
Yavapai Gospel Rescue Mission in Bible Study once a month.
Join a club or social group outside of church for the purposes
of making a friend to share the gospel with. Go on the August Short-Term Mission Trip to Nicaragua. Write a kind and
loving letter with the gospel in it to an estranged family member (conclude by telling them you love them and are here for
them). Tell somebody your testimony. Think of other ideas
that might suit you. These endeavors might not all be for you,
but the Commission is.

Hungers lesson
As far back as the wilderness wanderings, God was trying to teach His people that Man does not live by bread
alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the
mouth of the LORD. (Deut. 8:3)
Hunger teaches. God invented hunger. And it teaches us
not only that we must eat food today in order to sustain
our bodies, but the Lord of wisdom also means for it to
teach a parallel lesson: that we must feast o
n the words of
God in order to sustain our soul.
As often as you eat a meal, remind yourself that you. need.
Gods word. With every bite of food, let it be a reminder
not to let your soul starve. Let every hunger pain from your
stomach come with the twin cry, Where is my Bible? and
What verses will I m
editate on today?
