Perfect 10 Presidents Distinguished Record!
In TM year 2003/2004, World Headquarters completed the digitalization of its records. That made it possible to
sort records and identify clubs worldwide that have achieved Presidents Distinguished Club status in the Distinguished Club Program (DCP). The DCP has 10 goals grouped in four areas: Education; Membership; Training;
and Administration.
Each year, Toastmasters International publishes a list of clubs that have met the membership requirement and
achieved 5 6 DCP goals (Distinguished; 7-8 goals (Select Distinguished); and 9 10 goals (Presidents Distinguished.) While clubs can achieve Presidents Distinguished with 9 goals, and some clubs have had an unbroken
record at some point in their history, each year since 2003/2004, Toastmasters International has recognized clubs
that have an unbroken string of 10 for 10 Presidents Distinguished honors starting from the time that achievement was first tracked.
At the outset, some 50 clubs had perfect 10 for 10 records. Over the years, some clubs have dropped off the list
so currently, of the 15,400 clubs worldwide, only 40 clubs still have bragging rights for having 10 for 10 Presidents Distinguished records since the statistic has been tracked. Half of those perfect 10 clubs are in the U.S.
Of those 20, three clubs are in our geography two in District 29 (the Bennie Bough Club and Lake Ridge.
G.U.T.S in District 27 also traces a perfect 10 record back to the beginning of record keeping).
Bennie Bough Club charter member and President, Distinguished Toastmaster Shu Bartholomew, says, the
clubs outstanding performance is because we have strong club traditions, outstanding meetings focused on the
individual member, and because we make every meeting FUN! Making meetings fun is something that everyone
can and should do. It was Shu's District Governor theme and is her theme as club President as well.
Shu points out that the Bennie Bough Club has been 10 for
10 President's Distinguished every year of its existence, including its charter year. Few clubs, if any, can claim that absolutely perfect record. Shu is proud of another Bennie
Bough club record in every year after charter, 7 of 7 Bennie
Bough Club officers have been trained in both TLI seasons.
We have a club banner full of Golden Toaster ribbons.
Bennie Bough is 10 for 10 President's Distinguished again
this year as is Lake Ridge. CONGRATULATIONS!
Taking Your Toastmasters Skills Beyond the Four Walls of Your Club
Learning lessons from stretching your wings far and wide
sharing the Toastmasters experience with others.
Nick Baskerville, CC
I recently heard someone say they had 'leveled up' in
a particular skill. I understood that like a video game,
the person had done so well at his current level, he
was moved to the next challenge. For over a year, I've
been a Toastmaster at PWC Employee Club #1973.
I've finished my CC. And while there are ways to level
up inside the club, I thought "Where else can the next
level be found?" Before I knew it, another Toastmaster and I were sitting at the Moth StorySLAM event at
the Howard Theater. Before a sold out crowd, I gave a
personal story infused with the many lessons learned
from Toastmasters. It was at the end of that night that I
realized that Toastmasters helps to bring a potential
out of myself and reach a new level of speaking.
