General Instructions:

1) Any equipment taken for usage/lent to another team must be logged on the lab inventory
register.
2) Report any equipment problems/failures to Vinesh/Siva/Gaurav.
3) Do not write on boards/equipments. Use labeling tapes for the same.
4) Please check and remove any wires pieces on the test table before to start the board
testing.
4) Once used, return parts/wires to correct shelves. Do not put suspected defective parts
back in the shelves.
5) Ensure the voltage ratings (110V/220V) before switching ON any lab instruments.
6) Always use 3 pin power cables for the lab instruments.
7) Antistatic mats (table/floor) have been provided for equipment safety. Please utilize the
same.
8) Switch OFF all the lab equipments before leaving the lab.
9) Take care of keeping pressurised cans like, the freezing spray away from the hot
objects.
10) DO NOT get any eatables/water etc inside the lab.

Correct and Safe Usage:

(a) Emulators:
1) Always read the manual before interfacing it to the target. See the connection diagrams,
and then make the actual connections.

2) Switch on the emulator in the following fashion:

- Connect the target to the emulator.
- Switch on the emulator.
- Power on the target.

3) Switch the emulator off in the reverse fashion.

(b) Oscilloscopes:
1) Please use the oscilloscope and the probes with care as they are precision equipments and
very costly.
2) Always check the type (active, passive...) and max voltage rating of the oscilloscope
probes before to start probing the signals.
3) Dont tamper the probe pins for your requirements
4) Always use wrist bands before to use active probes.
5) Dont touch the active probe pins as the static accumulated may destroy the probes.
6) Take care of all probe accessories and place them back in there respective boxes.
(c) Logic Analyzer:
1) Please use the Logic Analyzer with care as it is precision equipment
2) Please take care when using the PODS and adapters
3) Once connected check for any shorts in between the flying probes on the boards before
switching ON the test environment and LA.
(d) Multimeter:
1) Always check the mode (current or voltage) before to measure the signals.
(e) Power supplies:
1) Always check on the correct polarity before switching on the power supplies.
2) Check for any short on the loads before to switch ON the power supplies.
3) Power supplies can be cascaded for more current and voltages. Please read the manuals
provided on the supply settings properly before to attempt.
4) Always take care of not changing the settings of the power supplies which are switched
ON and connected to live system.
5) Try to use the proper connectors to connect from the power supplies to the respective
boards

(f) Solder station:

1) Always soak the sponge with water before working with the soldering Iron
2) Keep the Soldering table clean
3) Please keep the Soldering iron in the soldering station holder when not in use.
4) Dont tamper the Soldering Iron tips.

5) Take care of not to bring the soldering iron near to its power wire sleeves as it may
damage the wire.
6) Always switch OFF the Soldering station when not in use.
