Having a system that prevents contamination of storm water in the companies is in line
with the objective of ascertaining of various water treatment processes that are ensure quality
control of the process and environmental protection.
Is the waste water treated on site?
The question of whether the water treatment is conducted onsite was in regards to the
objective of identifying various operating systems and also establishment of treatment for the
waste water management and the quality of chemicals used on the site.
Do these chemicals comply with health and safety requirements?
Compliance of the chemical to the health and safety requirements and whether the site
has integrated the various pollution control license was in line with the objective of ascertaining
each water treatment process in the dairy industry so as to determine quality control of the
process.
Do you have an Environmental Management system (EMS) that
complies with the ISO14001 Standard?
The question on environmental management system which is in compliance to the ISO
14001 standard was with regards to the set objective of identification of operating and
processing systems used in waste water generation on site and the ascertain of waste water
treatment processes (Arvanitoyannis, 2008,p. 96).
Data collection:
The sample population used in this paper is 40 industries with the ratio of 1:1 from both
Middle East and EU respectively. The companies were reached though phone calls contacting the
industry manager and sending of emails. The total respondents were 30 out of the original 40
who were contacted with a consistency in the ration of 1:1 from both countries.

The reason behind choosing the European countries is to showcase the advancement in
the water treatment sector in dairy industries. The mentioned countries have been able to
integrate new technologies in the various processes thus offering the perfect reference for other
developing nations. Various countries such as German and UK have high standard research
institutes for testing and coming up with technological advancements. Most of the systems in the
developed countries above are self-sustainable and utilize the energy consumptions in the sites
through integration of electrochemical systems. The major reasons behind choosing the Middle
East countries for this work is the water scarcity problem encountered therefore providing
suitable Environment for integration of the water reuse and efficient water treatment systems
integration. The fact that the nations are highly becoming developed there is an increased need
for development of efficient and sustainable water treatment systems which will ensure dairy
waste water treatment is effective so as to increase development of the sector. Frances dairy
industry is characterized by an increment in the number of processing plants with the annual
returns valued at 27.2 billion in revenues and advanced technology Ireland on the other hand has
advanced processors which promotes its interests in the EU and international level. With
standardized technology in the market and the regulation of various processes the Ireland dairy
market is policy controlled and regulated by the state thus ensuring an enhancement in the global
competitiveness (Rad, & Lewis, 2013p. 5-9). The reason for choosing of the Saudi Arabia dairy
industry is to showcase the development carried out in terms of processing despite of the annual
rainfall being 2.3 annually. Kuwait is characterized by slow and less resourceful processing units.
The local Kuwait market is still struggling with its markets and has been specialized in the
processing sector.
