Language. It emphasizes on four basic skills which are reading, writing, speaking and
listening based on the integrated elements in Arts in Education study. All of the elements
included music, visual arts, audio and movement which required in the teaching and learning

nowadays tend to use various teaching aids and resource kits to attract the students
attention in their learning process.

The themes introduced in the curriculum for primary schools Bahasa Inggeris Year 3
included People Around Us, Under the Sea, Fresh Fruits, Technology at Home and so
on. We combine some of the themes and make it into a new one which is Living Things and
Non-Living Things. The rational why we choose this theme is because we try to make the
pupils generate their previous knowledge based on what they had learn before. We
assumed to apply this theme as one of the revision process before the pupils sit for their final
examination. At the same time, they will improve their vocabularies of English words as well
as their thinking skill as they need to recall and remember the lessons before. They also
need to classify those words into their respective classes either living things or non-living
things.

Resource Kit

Figure 2
The resource kit that we choose to create is as shown in the Figure 1 and Figure 2. It
is called a Spinner and Vocabulary Hanger. We choose to create this resource kit
as we intend to integrate the elements of visual arts, music and movement where the
first thing that the pupils need to do is spin the spinner while music is being played.
Here, we already combine the elements of music and movements. Pupils also need
to move around especially when they need to come to the front of the class as they
represent their respective groups. Once the music stop, they need to identify at which
part did the arrow point and they need to choose immediately a picture that related to
the key word show in the spinner. When they look the picture, indirectly they will use
the elements of visual arts since the pictures provided are colourful, different in
shapes and in different characteristics. This will enhance their imagination and visual
skills.

Cello tape

Puncher
First, we cut the box into a round shape using the scissor and cutter. The polystyrene is
wrapped using a wrapping paper to act as the background of the spinner. Then we wrap the
round shape box into 5 different colours parts by the colouring papers. We paste and tie the
complete round shape box to the polystyrene and make sure it can be spin. Then, we print
out different clues related to the themes introduced in the curriculum and paste in on
different parts on the round shape spinner. For the pictures, we print many pictures and
laminate them. Next, for the vocabularies hanger, we used our own hanger and paste the
clues at the hanger which are living-things and non-living things. The hanger is tied with the
threads so later; pupils can hang the pictures at the threads.
Spin the spinner while music is being played and look at where the arrow point at.
