Parking Mart Store

Abstract
This proposal aims to demonstrate the efficient and effective data and inventory management
using an automated or computerized inventory control system. We wanted to prove that it uses
less of time for the accessing of data and information about customers and what they bought and
at the same time makes the process of business become faster. We wanted also to justify that it is
the solution with an optimized and systematic inventory system that has a user friendly interface
as well as systematic and automated approach for easier handling and improvement of the
inventory management system.

CHAPTER I
Introduction
Inventory System deals primarily with determining the size and placement of the materials
within a facility or within multiple locations of a supply chain network. It is also concerned with
the importance of forecasting the required inventory, availability of physical space and cost in
carrying those inventories to maintain the planned course of production against fluctuations or
shortage of materials. One way of managing inventory is to have a web-based system in place
that can instantly track and update the information about the supplies that is being purchased by
customers.
The importance of implementing a web-based inventory system is becoming vital as most of the
time the information are accessible instantly, thereby making the details of the usage of the
equipment available, and improving the movement and anticipation of their demands as well as
the productivity of the system as a whole.
Review of Related Literature
A point of sales system is an electronic system that provides businesses with the capability to
retain and analyse a wide variety of offered products within an inventory and a day-to-day
transaction data on a continuous basis. POS systems have been touted as valuable tools for a
wide variety of businesses purposes like tracking customer purchases, analysing sales of each
inventory item, and creating reports for use in making purchases and reorders.
According to Shanker, the main difference between manual and computerized inventory system
is speed. The process data through accounting software can create reports much faster. And we
agreed on what he stated, using computerized system allow as to make our work more quickly
and accurately. A calculation through automation minimizes errors and increase efficiency. The
input data can easily be summarized in just a few clicks.

Parking Mart Store

Outline of the Study
The Parking Mart Store is located at San Benito Sur, Aringay, La Union. It is owned by a purely
blooded Filipino Madonna Torio. They are focusing on selling different merchandises that is
really needed by the people in the area.
When a customer made a purchase, it is being tallied manually in the log book and the customer
is given a receipt written in cardboard while they keep a duplicate of that receipt using a carbon
paper. The recording of sales, purchases, expenses and inventory of the products is in a manual
form. They then kept it in a rack for inventory purposes.

CHAPTER II
Results and Analysis
The results of the investigation conclude the need of a well organized and automated Inventory
System because of the not so good outcomes of practising a manual inventory system.
The following are the problems in their existing system:
1. Less efficient and effective data management.
2. Not a user-friendly- user need to input data manually by using materials such as pens and
papers. It sometimes leads errors while fulfilling the data.
3. Processes of finding and processing data and information takes a lot of time.
4. Since storing data is only using physical materials, there will no backup and recovery for
the data if disaster happens.
5. When the same data are stored in multiple locations, inconsistencies data are inevitable.
The following solutions were found during the interview:
1. Our group has come up with the decision that we will propose to the owner of the
Parking Mart Store an optimized and systematic Automated Inventory System, which
could easily track down, manage, and even secure their purchases, expenses and
inventory records to improve cash flow, visibility and decision making.
2. A system which will optimize the security and validity of the number of merchandise,
sales, purchases and expenses.
3. All data or information that currently stored in the drawers or racks should be transferred
to the database system that will be safely saved in the computer.

4. Propose the POS System to the owner for security protection, inputting the merchandise
and price easily and faster using bar coding system, and for automatic printing of receipts
for the customer.

CHAPTER III
Summary
The Automated Inventory System that we propose helps to the inventory process become more
efficient and easier. The objectives of this proposal are to make the inventory control system
more efficient, data consistency, and provide a comfortable and easily services for customers. An
optimized and systematic Automated Inventory could easily track down the Parking Marts Store
purchases, expenses and inventory records and will also optimize the validity and security of
merchandise.
Conclusion
Our proposal shares information by using an automated inventory system that allows the cashier(
handles the purchases of products) and the one who checks the merchandise stocks to distribute
relevant information about the merchandise inventory. It also results to lesser time and paper to
consume and updated backup system is implemented.
Recommendation
Our group recommends that the use of Point of Sale System is better than to retain the Manual
Inventory System. In the POS system the merchandise are easily identified using the barcode
scanner and the amount is exactly computed. With the use of POS System the computing process
is faster and easier. This system lessens the time for accessing data. The POS also provides
readymade receipts and accurate data for the customers. By using this system, the Parking Mart
personnel will scan or input the barcode of the merchandise and printout the receipt with the total
amount purchased by the customer. Each item or merchandise is scanned using its barcode that is
read by the barcode scanner. The barcodes of each item are stored in the database.
