literature.
4. In his book about Fernando Pessoa Faust Professor Lasch operates an analysis of the presence
of Faust legend in the History of Portuguese Literature, comparing some aspects of Goethes
Faust and Pessoas Fausto in regard to themes as subjectivity, tragedy, the aspect of
fragmentarily work, symbolism and occultism.
5. This work seems to be very important to my research since the author is working in many of
the themes that I am also investigating in regard to compare the both Faust works (Fernando
Pessoa and Goethe). Specially in a sense to find the similarities and the controversies between
these two poems, I have been enforcing my efforts in an attempt to raise some questions
about the aspects of Goethes building strategies and themes that are presented also in
Fernando Pessoas Fausto. Since this work is not translated into Portuguese, it is absolutely
important to read this text to avoid repeat some already worked approaches to these authors.
The book is organized in Chapters that begin introducing the theme of Faust in Portugal,
the genesis of myth, the inner aspects of Pessoas work, the comparative relationship between
Goethe and Pessoa, and finishing the analyze mentioning the Valrys Mon Faust.
6. The chapter that seems to be more important to my research purposes is the chapter that
