GE's Success Story

Copyright 2015, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |

16

Smart Cloning is the one-stop solution that we were looking for to

standardize and automate our cloning process for all different types
of EBS applications supported by us having different cloning
requirements(Application only, Single node to multi-node, multinode to single node, multi-node to multi-node etc). It is very flexible,
customizable and repeatable. Now we are able to do multiple clones
at the same time with minimal DBA involvement. It eliminates 99%
of the manual work done by our DBAs during cloning and allows the
team to focus on other critical customer requirements.

Cloning objectives

Why we need a better process

Accuracy and timely delivery of clones is critical for business projects for better
supportability
Meet unique clone requirements for each business within supported DBA resource
pool
Cloning process needs to be flexible to address different requirements and EBS
Releases
Automate cloning process from end to end

Cloning MUST be 100% repeatable process

Copyright 2015, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. |

27

Accuracy
Pre-defined execution steps ensures actions
are performed in the correct sequence, on
the appropriate source/target environments
and nothing is missed.

Less Defects

28

Consistent timing
Execution steps that immediately follow
completion of predecessors eliminates wait
time.

Consistency
