89Your word, O LORD, is eternal;
it stands firm in the heavens. Psalm 119:89 NIV
The Bible has survived every scratch of human pen. It has survived the assault of skeptics, agnostics, and
atheists. It has never been proved wrong by a single archaeological discovery. It remains supreme in its
revelation of redemption. God still speaks to us today through that same Word, which stands forever.

Pre-K 3 - 5th Grade

This weekend – April 25th, 2010

…during the 10:30 a.m. service

Issues…Problems… We all have issues and problems that we face. For

some, it is their attitude. For others, it’s a habit that they can’t seem to break. For many, it is
something they have faced their whole life. The goal of this series is to take on each of those
issues and problems and learn how to “Deal With It!” Not just our own way, but the BIBLE
WAY! We need to find out what God has to say about how we should “Deal With It!”

April 25th: Anger

We must not allow anger to control us; we must control our anger.
Power Verse: “Don’t sin by letting anger gain control over you.” Ephesians 4:26
Children will enjoy videos, music, puppet skits, illustrated messages, power verse, and games!
Children will be escorted to the gym after the children’s message in the Sanctuary.
Parents, please pick them up in the gym after the service.

Music:

Many of us enjoyed the beautiful music we had the pleasure of hearing

during Holy Week. Many thanks go to Ann Hinz and all those who
worked so hard to bring it to us: the choir, the bells, the brass, the
piano and organ accompaniments plus all the solos. Once again, “very uplifting and
wonderful". Thank you all for your hard work.

Rally 4-10-10:

First Lutheran LWML was privileged to host the Spring Rally. The
ladies led by Kristi Andrews did an excellent job of not only the
program, but the beautiful luncheon enjoyed by all. Thanks, also, goes to
Roxy Beougher for her wonderful wraps…you outdid yourself. Thank
you, Pastor Z, for our opening service and sermon. We can be proud of

Anyone interested in a rummage sale???? Thank you for your continued support!!
Greetings from the
National Day of Prayer Task Force!
Once again, our team is gearing up for our annual National Day of
Prayer event in Washington, D.C., where we’ll join with
government leaders and people from around the country to lift
our needs and concerns for America before the Lord. Also, our
dedicated volunteer coordinators are preparing for thousands of
local gatherings that will take place on Thursday, May 6, 2010.

Now more than ever before, I believe it is imperative that we as

God’s people remain on our knees for our nation and fellow
citizens. The critical challenges facing the United States and the
culture at large call for faithful, persevering intercession – not
only on the National Day of Prayer, but throughout the year.

Scripture provides abundant evidence that the Lord is attentive to

our cries and that He moves powerfully in response to the fervent
and contrite prayers of His children. As Martin Luther once said,
“Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance, but laying hold of His
willingness.” What comfort and encouragement we can have in
the assurance that our sovereign God is listening to our pleas, that
He waits to intervene on our behalf, and that He is “mighty to
save” (Zephaniah 3:17). With those wonderful truths in mind, I
urge you to join with us on May 6th as, in keeping with our theme,
“For Such a Time As This,” millions assemble in venues across
this land to raise their petitions heavenward. For information
about the locations of various observances being planned, please
visit www.NationalDayofPrayer.org.

May we continue to seek the Lord’s guidance and protection

during these crucial days that will impact the direction of our
country for generations to come. God bless you – and God bless
America!

Sincerely,

Mrs. James C. Dobson (Shirley)

Chairman, National Day of Prayer Task Force

School News - By Principal, Elaine Popp
Mission Statement:
First Lutheran School exists to proclaim the Gospel as we teach academic skills and Christian values,
establishing a strong foundation for a child to live a successful, positive, and Christ-centered life.

On Friday, there was a new principal at First Lutheran School. Geoffrey Starnes, from 3rd grade was the
Principal of the Day. He looked very professional in his dress shirt and tie. He spent the day with Mrs.
Popp doing teacher observations, designing and distributing NUT (no uniform today) Day passes, and
leading the Friday afternoon closing. He and Mrs. Popp also had an important principal’s meeting over
lunch at Steak and Shake discussing future plans for First Lutheran School. Mr. Starnes did an excellent
job as our principal.
Thursday was Earth Day so our Student Council planned a clean up project for the students. First, we
cleaned our classrooms and then spent some time outside beautifying our campus.
Over the last few weeks, our middle school students have been tackling a very important issue –
bullying. They had an all middle school meeting to begin discussing the issue. Pastor Piering led them in
an opening devotion and then the teachers helped lead the middle school students in defining the issue
and coming up with ways to prevent bullying on our campus. One important part of their discussion
was designing and signing a poster to be a part of the "Caring Majority” that would not allow bullying
at our school. Thank you, teachers and students, for taking the lead in this important issue.

Visitor Corner: Welcome to all who come here to worship our LORD. Another voice in praise of
Him is a wonderful blessing. We are so glad you have come. To show our appreciation we would like you to
stop by our visitor center, located in the narthex, where you will find gift bags. Please take one.
Please introduce yourself to Pastor and perhaps to others you may notice just hanging around after the
worship service has concluded. We sometimes get so caught up in our excitement at seeing friends for the first
time in the past week that we forget to lookout for YOU! Thank you for joining us today, and please, thank
